Well today begins the “Conway Era”, I hope. He’s gonna be my main ride now for the next couple of years for sure , until I get Newly started. Conway has BIG shoes to fill. Hope Ethy had enough time to share with him all the secrets before she passed.

Well, here I am again. It’s been a sh*tty week. My one and only Ethyl has gained her wings. She and Miss Kitty and baby, Bailey and Cash are all running free and together again.
I’m so blessed that I was able to be with her yesterday. And her last 24 hours were spent in the best hands ever, being pampered and treated like a queen. So thankful Ashley was able to comfort her in her last day/hours.
Ethyl was a one of a kind, broke the mold when she was born kind of horse. She had a great start with Stacy and Bailey. Then I got her when she was four and she’s been my main girl for 19 awesome years. You could do anything on her. It always made me so proud when one of my kids would choose to take her for their usin’ needs. I remember texting Stacy one morning, I was so excited because Lane was headed out to rope some bulls and he had Ethyl as his ride on the trailer that morning!
Ethyl and I did so many things together, obstacle clinics, trail rides, cattle work, mounted shooting (she even made the paper for that!), teaching many young horses the ropes, ponied some race horses, heck, even JULIE GOODNIGHT used her as an example in a clinic we attended in Kansas. I still had so many plans for us to do that we didn’t get the chance to do.
Oh my, my dear Ethyl, I am going to miss you so much! Fly high girl!

Well, always know your day can take a turn at any moment.
When I got home from work last night, all was good. Or so I thought. Then Lexie got home and said Mom, did you know that Kitty has feet sticking out! (I had been busy taking pictures for insurance and was on the phone with them), so I got excited and ran out to take a peek. Soon I realized there was indeed a nose and both feet, but that Kitty had been trying too long. I knew the foal had passed. So on the phone, finally done with insurance, to figure out the next step. Borrowed a trailer, found a vet, got her loaded, and my support person, Lexie, and I were off to Eldon.
To make a long, sad story short, I ended up losing both Miss Kitty and the sweet baby girl she was so desperately trying to deliver. I feel so bad. Miss Kitty was the sweetest broodmare I had in my remuda of one! Ethyl, Newly, and I miss her terribly already.

Had a great ride today! Last week we rode Annie for about 1 1/2 hours. Today we rode about 3 hours. Until this, she had set in the pasture for 7 months! She never missed a beat and rode like she’d been ridden everyday! I’m so proud of her! Thanks to all those who have helped make this five year old mare into the horse she is today!
