Buried a good friend today. I’ve had a lot of help in this cowdog training journey but nobody was more important than this guy.
His dogs and his trust in me to train them are what put me on the map.
I bet if Jesus didn’t already know about Razor he does now.

Ol Ace still sure is fun to work. He was first after first round and had a calf that gave us fits in the finals and ended up third.

Took 5 young dogs to beautiful SE Colorado to work in some big country. A lot of firsts for all of us. They sure learned a lot about working pairs, bigger groups and rough country in 3 days.

Toro’s first day out of the small pen. His owner said he went to Jirl Bucks house last year to buy a bull. He left with no bull but a puppy named Toro instead.

This is another Ace pup I trained last year now owned by Kyle Kretchmar. I like a strong dog but Like seeing a dog mature and know how to back off and move stock without causing a wreck.

This pup is more comfortable working the heels than the head so we’re working on that. Has lots of adrenaline running through him right now like most pups.

Don’t get a lot of Australian Shepherds in for training but one here now. Works and trains a little different than a border collie but he’ll save his owner a lot of steps when we’re finished.

Bret Carters pup struggled the last few days so I figured I was pushing him too much. Let him relax and do his thing yesterday. Acted a lot better today. Pretty cool sunset to.

Nothing out of the ordinary just admiring another beautiful sunrise and thinking how fortunate I am to get to do what I do in the greatest country on Gods green earth. Happy Independence Day!

Less than a week here and Bill Smocks Daybell Walker/Cap bred pup sure showing some sense.

This is the 2nd day to move this group of 40 pairs. Gathered and moved them about 3 miles each day. (Ranch is huge) they are respecting the dog and he is patient enough to not cause a wreck.

Penned these cattle out of 600 acres but they still needed broke. Sitka and Chief learning to help each other.

Bucks Toro graduation day. I like to have the owners park where they can watch their dog when they pick them up. Pretty neat video from his view. This is the first time he’s seen him in person in nearly 3 months.

This is Mary Ann Clays dog Ivy. She has been quite the challenge because she was so timid. It is sure good to see her confidence coming around.

Taught the dog in the back to stop on his feet. The rest know “down”. The pup in the front is mine so he gets a pass. Haven’t had time to work w him much yet.

Slick reminding me of that saying “ if you’re gonna be stupid you better be tough.” He’s actually pretty smart but he hides it sometimes. Yes that’s a muzzle he’s wearing.

My young dog I’m training. Mine don’t get worked much when I have customers dogs to train so they try to get all they can when they can.

At 55 days in Bucks Toro is really gaining confidence in taking commands. When trainability, natural instinct and confidence come together it makes for a dog that’s fun to work.
