we kept the flow going.
Here’s a couple quick photos of just a couple of the awesome kids we seen this year and the absolute toad of a 270 lb sow that graced the hoist. (Included a pic of some paws which will always amaze me how much they resemble our hands. 😳)

Happy Friday!
Things are hot in the woods these past two weeks and I wanted to stop and take a minute to share a couple thoughts on birds.
First two pictures are an absolute stud mallard that came in today, check out those two curls 🔥. Congrats to Isaac R on a real nice drake.

For folks that can’t get a bird to me fresh, take damp paper towels and wrap up those heads and feet well. Blot off any excess blood, place in a freezer bag and push as much air out as possible then place in freezer. Easy peasy now it’ll be in great shape until you can make the appointment to drop it off.

☀️ third pic is a reference pic of what pin feathers look like.(this is on a pheasant back) Those soft blue ends next to the skin are not mature and as you can see very prone to falling out during the washing/drying process. Leaving a less than ideal specimen to mount.
Early season is a crap shoot for mature plumage on birds so check over your birds well when making choices on which ones to put on the wall.

Alright righty folks! Our favorite time of year is here. 🌳
A couple of reminders as we head into the next busy couple months.
I am taking in squirrels, deer, bear, predators and birds but will have a limit on how many of each so I don’t overwhelm myself in turnaround times.
⭐️ Please remember on all critters you MUST bring your license information with you or I have to send you and your critter home to get it. Non-negotiable.

🐻 Bears and such must be appropriately checked and tagged before arrival.
🦆 Waterfowl must have all the needed info to fill out the federal migratory bird tag. I can send you a text with the requirements if you need.
🍁 the weather is still warm so the chance of heat related slippage is high. Get your animals skinned off and the capes cooled down asap and give us a call to schedule dropoffs. When in doubt leave more hide than you think I need. I can always cut off extra but we can’t put back what ain’t there.

Spring has sprung and warm weather has finally set in. 🦝
Now that the busy drop off season has ended I will not have a set schedule for open shop hours each day.
I will still be putting in my typical 40-50 hour weeks on mounts but I will be in and out of the shop on errands, lunch break on walks with the dogs, and such. ☀️

If you know them you are blessed because Terri is such a sweet loving gal and her husband Emery just as wonderful.

Winding down on predator/furbearer season I wanted to remind folks of a couple things.

Coyotes are coming in full swing this past week. Please make sure to check over well for mange as that will be a no-go for us to take in. Also make sure you have your CID you at drop for our paperwork, yes even for coyotes.
Do not wash any mud etc off. Keep as cold and dry as you can through this warm spell until you can get them dropped off for me to process.
