It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our sweet Serena's passing. She had exploratory surgery yesterday to determine the cause of her ongoing bladder issues, and during the process our vet discovered a large, likely cancerous mass in her bladder that was taking a massive toll on her body. Despite the best efforts of our medical team, Serena crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.

Though we are heartbroken, we find comfort in knowing Serena is now resting peacefully. She was deeply loved by every staff member and got to spend time outside the shelter, basking in the sun, and enjoying the comfort of being an office dog.

Our page will be going dark for the rest of the evening in honor of Serena. Rest in peace, sweet Serena. You are already deeply missed. ❤️

We want to take a moment to brag about our incredible staff! They went above and beyond for Serena, a sweet 12-year-old gal, by taking her out for lunch at Sand Point Park yesterday. Serena hasn't had an easy life, and she’s facing a challenging surgery today to examine some masses. Our compassionate and dedicated team wanted to ensure she had some extra love and sunshine before her procedure.

We are so thankful for our hardworking staff members who always take the time to give our animals the love they deserve. They make all the difference in the lives of the animals in our care.

Please keep Serena in your thoughts and send her all the positive vibes as she undergoes her surgery today. Let's all rally around her and our amazing team to show just how strong our community can be! ❤️

We want to extend the BIGGEST THANK YOU for our incredible volunteers, Amy and Carmine! Not only do they dedicate their time and love to our furry friends, but they’ve also gone above and beyond by purchasing a brand new grooming tub for our dogs. This generous gift ensures our pups can get bathed and groomed more easily, making them feel their absolute best while they wait for their loving homes. 🛁🐶

Hey everyone, it's me, Parker! I hope you've had as much fun as I have on Parker Day, but I have a special request. Besides adopting me (because who wouldn't want a three-legged sunbathing, fetch-loving couch potato?), I need your help to make Men on Fire a blazing success!

Last week, Parker and Mandy had an absolute blast at our Wine and Whiskers event! From sniffing around the hors d'oeuvres to dancing to live music, these two were the life of the party! 🕺💃

But guess what? Today is all about PARKER! Parker has been with us for over a year and is our longest resident. This handsome 2-year-old tripod loves to sunbathe, play fetch, and be a couch potato. Parker is more than ready to find a loving home to call his own. He prefers to be the only pet but is open to meeting potential doggy siblings.

We have incredible news to share: more of the brave cats rescued from the Madison County hoarding situation are now AVAILABLE for adoption!

In May, our dedicated team rescued 44 cats from dire conditions in northern Florida. They were living in unimaginable filth and neglect, suffering from trauma. But with the care of our staff, volunteers, and fosters, these resilient kitties have been nursed back to health.

Their journey has been tough, but their transformation is nothing short of miraculous. These cats have shown incredible strength and are now ready for the love and comfort of a home. Could that be with you?

Happy Gorgeous Grandma Day, everyone (who knew that was a holiday)! Today, we’re celebrating our very own Roxy! At 11 years young, she is the ultimate grandma dog:

👵 Loves kids, other dogs, and cats? Check!
🛋️ Couch potato? Double check!
🍪 Treat enthusiast? Absolutely... even though they may make her 💨! (she’s deaf, so she poots with pride. 🤭)

Currently, Roxy is assistant to the shelter manager, lounging around the office and giving us her best “come pet me” eyes. But this lovely lady is dreaming of a cozy home to call her own.

Mandy had quite the Borrowed Buddies outing this past weekend! 🐾

Erin says, "She's 9 years old and a total sweetheart. Mandy is a dream on a leash and rides well in the car. For our day out, we took an air-conditioned walk through The Home Depot. Her gentle personality lit up the room, and she made lots of fans! Before heading back to the SPCA, we stopped for a treat at Starbucks. I asked for the LARGEST pup cup possible and they did not disappoint!"

Hello, friends! I'm Parker! I'm writing this from the comfort of my foster dad's cozy back porch, but I could really use your help! I'm the SPCA of Brevard's longest resident at just over a year, and while I adore everyone at the SPCA, being in a loving home would be a dream come true!

I'm 2 years old and rockin' three legs (had to lose one after a car accident, but hey, it doesn’t slow me down!). I love to sunbathe, be a couch potato, and play fetch like a champ. I prefer to be your one and only pet, but I'm open to meeting potential doggy siblings. Fun fact: I've even been on the news a few times, so you could say I'm a bit of a local celebrity.

At 15 years young, Abuela is a sweet and affectionate gal who's ready to spend her golden years with a loving family. Found as a community cat, Abuela needed a little extra TLC, and now she’s hospice care due to her age and hyperthyroidism. But don’t worry, the SPCA will cover her bloodwork and medication for the rest of her life. Abuela loves to "chat" about anything and everything, we like to think she's sharing all the hot gossip from the cat rooms! She's a true couch potato at heart and would adore a home where she can rest and relax.
