This Giving Tuesday we have a special need--we want to help half a dozen Mama dogs that we know of, whose puppies we have transported and whose owners want to keep them, get spayed, in order to prevent them from having more unwanted litters. The price of even low cost spay/neuter clinics has gone up substantially, and these very low income owners cannot afford to get their mama dogs fixed. Thank you for your support.
Her are pictures of several of the Mommas we are trying to help. Please donate at:

Did you know:
You should not pick up a puppy by the scruff because it can cause pain, injury, and fear.
Instead, gently support a puppy by scooping it up with one hand under its chest and the other under its hindquarters.
While mother dogs use the scruff to carry their pups, they only do so when the puppy is very young and small, and the technique is not safe for humans to replicate
It is not recommended to pick up a puppy by the scruff of its neck, as it can cause pain, stress, and potential injury, even though mother dogs do it for their young. Unlike mother dogs, humans are not as instinctively adept at holding puppies correctly, and the reflex that makes the practice safe for puppies becomes less effective as they grow. Instead, you should support the puppy's chest and rear when lifting.

Meet the Jane Goodall litter! These 5 pups rescued from a hoarder case in Wilkes headed north to this week to find their forever homes! Alex their foster (holding Goodall) learned all about Jane Goodall and her message of hope, and is now planning on starting a new Roots & Shoots chapter in her rural area. She says she wants her young sons, who helped take care of these pups in foster for a month, to grow up involved with helping animals and nature.
