This Wednesday, January 31st is the LAST DAY to secure your dog's license without paying the late fee! đź“…https://lucascountydogs.com/licensing-your-dog/
Lucas County residents have the opportunity to get their pit bull/pit bull type dogs spayed/neutered at a reduced price of just $15 through the “Big Fix” program as long as the dog has a current license. Email [email protected] and make sure to mention "Big Fix" to schedule your appointment.
Why is the Lucas County Big Fix program aimed at spaying and neutering “pit bull type” dogs?
Most of the dogs at Lucas County Canine Care & Control are listed as pit bulls or pit bull type dogs. As of today, of the 91 dogs listed as available for adoption, 82 are happy go lucky, sweet, and sometimes slobbery "pit bulls". Pit bull type dogs are one of the most common types of dogs found in shelters across America as well as right here in our county, which unfortunately also makes them the top dog breed to be euthanized.
We are working with county commissioners and Lucas County Canine Care and Control to help reduce the amount of pets (especially pit bull type dogs) in our shelters—therefore reducing the amount of dogs sadly put to sleep.
It's not only the law to license your dog, but it also helps to give them a ride home, as well as a two-week stray hold if taken into the county shelter. Licenses help provide funding for county shelters, and enable dog owners to take advantage of amazing programs like the "Big Fix".
**To schedule, please email your information (full name, address, phone number) and your pet's information (name, age, s*x, breed, weight and color) to: [email protected].
{Please note: we receive a VERY high volume of calls and messages requesting appointments. We are only able to schedule six weeks out. We absolutely want to help everyone and get all the pets spayed/neutered, but we do ask for your patience as we navigate the high volume of requests.}
We want to give a BIG thanks to the "Big Fix".
