In my opinion if the Humane society or lc4 gets a call about an animal outside the animals need to be seized to the motor is charged with neglect and cruelty to animals because there is no excuse for an animal needs to be out in 30° below zero wind chill I don't care what excuse they have if you can't even keep him in to begin with don't have them and go ahead everyone starts your ranting and raving how your dogs don't want to be in they can suffer frostbite they don't have a mind like a human and know any better they still lose ears and limbs from being frostbitten even the horses I had a horse lose its ears from being outside being frostbitt and that I had gotten in from somebody so my horses will be in in this weather they will not be outside

Brrrrr! It’s definitely getting cold outside!❄️

As temperatures drop, it’s vital to bring your pets inside to keep them safe and warm.

Here’s what you need to know about outdoor pet care in the cold:
• Shelter: Pets must have a dry, draft-free shelter that is large enough for them to move comfortably but small enough to retain body heat.
• Bedding: Always use straw for insulation—never blankets, as blankets can get wet, freeze, and become hazardous.
• Water: Ensure pets have access to fresh, non-frozen water. Check frequently, as bowls freeze quickly in cold weather. Heated water bowls are a great option!
• Frostbite and Hypothermia: Wind-chill can threaten a pet’s life, even if temperatures aren’t below freezing. Exposed skin on noses, ears, and paw pads are especially vulnerable to frostbite. Limit outdoor time during extreme cold.
• Cars: Warm engines attract small animals like cats or wildlife. Always bang on the hood of your car and check underneath before starting it.
• Salt and Chemicals: Ice-melting products and salt can irritate your pet’s paws. Wipe their paws clean after walks and prevent them from licking their pads.

If you see something, say something.

Contact our cruelty hotline at 419-891-9777. Our officers are available during weekdays. For urgent reports after hours or on weekends, please call your local police department. If pets are left outside and their safety is at risk, we will take action under the Ohio State Animal Welfare Laws.
