Flamingo Chick Care 2024
Avian Breeding Center Keeper, Cynthia, shows us a day in the life of caring for our Flamingo chick! 🐣🦩
The first Flamingo chick of the season hatched on June 17 and is being hand-reared off-exhibit for the first 60 days of life.
This ensures the chick receives the proper nutrients and care needed while also protecting it from larger counterparts in the Flamingo Key exhibit.

King Cobra Snakes Hatching at Toledo Zoo
The Toledo Zoo recently hatched 13 King cobra snakes! 🐍🥚
Herpetology Department Area Manager, Nick, takes us behind-the-scenes to show the extensive process of successfully breeding and hatching King cobra eggs.
This is a great accomplishment for the Toledo Zoo and was made possible by our dedicated animal care team.

Join our Green sea turtle, Tink, and zoo keeper, Drake, in celebrating #WorldSeaTurtleDay today! Tink is specially trained to enter a protected area, where they receive their diet, medication and various forms of animal care.
As Drake describes, there are many ways we can help sea turtles in our everyday lives! Every small step towards waste mitigation, habitat preservation and conscious beach visitations goes a long way for wildlife.
Tasmanian Devils Update
The Toledo Zoo takes on Tasmania! 🌍🐾
To help save Tasmanian devils from the brink of extinction, our dedicated team has joined the Tasmanian government's conservation efforts in Australia and beyond.
General Curator of Endotherms, Michael Frushour, and his team are transporting eight Tasmanian devils to the United States to act as ambassadors for their species.
A new state-of-the-art facility at the Toledo Zoo will act as a regional distribution hub for other AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums across the country.
We're grateful for the decade-long collaboration with the Tasmanian government, and the rest of the AZA community, who share in our mission of conserving the natural world.
