Horse Leg Lifts - Conditioning for Piaffe and Passage
Fun way to connect with your horse and condition at the same time. Good muscle memory for Piaffe and Passage, too! No begging for treats when a horse is this advanced in clicker training. You can practically see the wheels turning in Sundance's head! #clickertraining #piaffe #dressage #clickertrainingandtreats #dressage #dressagetraining #traininghorses #painthorses #gameswithhorses #connectedriding #connectionwithhorses #lovingpresencewithhorses #relationshipwithhorses #horses #horse
Trinket on Fitpaws Wobble board
Trinket likes the Fitball wobble board! She gets on whenever I have it in the barn aisle. It's great conditioning for the back issues she's had. Can't wait to show the chiropractor next week!
Clicker trained Horse uses Pose to indicate he's ready
The Pose, a collected body position, is useful in many ways to both handler and horse. Horses often use as a default behavior to ask for treats. The Pose (a behavior in @Alex Kurland’s books) also can develop into a behavior that indicates a horse’s readiness to do more. It is a position where the horse can initiate movement in balance. Does your horse know how to Pose? What issues have you encountered in teaching it? (I’ll post later about how to start teaching your horse the Pose.)
Clicker Training Target Touch for Horses
Touching a target is a good introduction to clicker training and is a foundation behavior for advanced work, too. The beginning clicker trainer learns to click exactly when the horse’s nose touches the target, thus marking the behavior. The horse learns that a very specific behavior earns him a treat, that he will hear a click when he gets it right, and that a treat comes AFTER a click. This horse knows targeting. I’ll post a video later of a horse just learning, and using different types of targets.
