This sweet kiddo was brought in from around the Copper Queen Mine Tour area. The staff there were concerned for the kitty's safety, as she's a friendly lady.

This has been a very difficult decision for the board to make. We apologise to all the facilities we pull from and our community that we serve. As of 11-9-2024 TSAS has put a freeze on all intakes on both dogs and cats for 3 months. As most rescues know the cost of vetting our animals over the last 3 yrs has tripled and funding is a struggle for everyone. TSAS has pulled a total of 96 dogs and 32 cats this year from other facilities. 5 dogs and 6 cats/kittens had life treating health issues 1 spent 31/2 days in icu in Tucson for pneumonia. That visit plus the after care needed totalled $8,962.00. A mommy cat and her 3 new borns bills so far have totalled almost $6,000.00 and Mom and 1 kitten are still in need of medical care. Total this yr in vets is now over 76,000 plus. The last 3 yrs in vets alone is approximately $209,000. Food cost so far this yr is over $8,000.00. Community assist has reached &7,000.00. The other major factor in our decision is our long time residents. We want to to focus on them. They get over looked and the new pups, small dogs, cats/kittens get adopted. We have some amazing dogs and cats that deserve to find their forever homes and people. We want to thank each and everyone of you for your donations, support and your loyalty to TSAS. We could not do what we love to do without you. You are the reason we’ve come this far and the reason we will be able too continue rescuing as many dog and cats as possible. I want to thank the volunteers for their loyalty and hard work the last year. I’m very proud of all of you. You are all amazing. We have 6 women who run the everyday task to of keep the shelter running smoothly, all but 2 are 66 and over and the other 2 are not yet seniors but close. We need volunteers desperately. If you’d like to volunteer a few hrs a week playing with our guest, walking the dogs , giving them one on one time please contactbTSAS at 520-457-2545. We have 3 amazing dog walkers that give as much time as possible. But these crazy needs exercise, they are big kids. Thank you for reading this length text.
