I had so much fun taking these pictures! As I looked through them all it occurred to me how unique each dog is.. some are very old, some very young, some are blind and some are deaf...one has only three legs.. some are shy and anxious, some are brave and bold... all so different, but they ALL hold a very special place in my heart. 2020 was definitely a challenging year filled with fear and unknowns... but if you’re lucky enough to have a dog in your life, you know you can always count on their unconditional love to get you through... wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!🎄

Celebrate National Dress Up Your Pet Day on January 14, 2021! The Ocean County Library invites you to celebrate by sharing adorable photos of your pets in outfits or costumes. Please share photos of your dogs in raincoats, kitties with top hats, and anything in between!

To participate in National Dress Up Your Pet Day please email submissions to [email protected]. The submission deadline is January 7, 2021. Please include photos of only pets as other photos will not be eligible for submission. Only emailed submissions will be included.

Selected photos will be published on the Ocean County Library’s Social Media Pages to celebrate National Dress Up Your Pet Day on January 14, 2021.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Unfortunately, it looks like it will still be awhile before you will be able to get your dog groomed. It is very important to keep your pets clean and maintained during this time. If you are unable to bathe them, please make sure you are regularly cleaning their private areas and the corners of their eyes. If too much build up occurs, bacteria will form causing infections and other skin issues. You can use a warm wet cloth and a tearless shampoo to clean around the eyes. If there is build up, soak the area, and gently try to remove it with you fingers. Please go slowly and gently to avoid injury. You may have to repeat several times if it has hardened. Do the same near their butts and private areas. Maintaining these areas will keep your pet comfortable, and can prevent an unwanted trip to the vet. I am always available to answer any questions.
