February is National Pet Dental Health Month! Maintaining your pet's dental health is crucial; if uncared for, it can lead to future complications. If you observe your pet dropping food, showing disinterest in meals, or experiencing weight loss, their teeth may be the culprit. Dental surgery, conducted under anesthesia, enables us to clean their teeth and extract any problematic ones. If you suspect your pet has dental disease, it’s important to seek veterinary attention promptly. Untreated dental issues can result in serious systemic conditions, such as kidney and liver disease. Stay tuned for more informative posts about dental health throughout this month!

From Wednesday, January 29 to Saturday, February 1st, we will be temporarily closing our hospital while construction takes place. Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic and Pet Resort has been kind enough to allow us to work out of their hospital during this disruption. We will be operating under limited hours and seeing clients by appointment only.

Please continue to call our main phone number (716-636-3600), your calls will forwarded to a cell phone that we will be monitoring. However, we strongly encourage you to text (716-636-3600) or email us ([email protected]) to prevent voicemail box overfill.

Last week, poor Spooky had a little run in with a vaccine reaction. As you can see, his face is very swollen around his eyes and mouth. This anaphylactic response happens when the animal is allergic to some component of the vaccine. Throughout the years, vaccines have become more safe so we see reactions less, but they can still happen. There are some mild symptoms that are normal after a vaccine but if you notice any of the more severe symptoms please contact us immediately. To help avoid a reaction, we will give your pet a dose of Benadryl before vaccinating. Please let us know if you have noticed any of these signs before your pets next vaccine!
