Meet Molly and Holly! These bonded girls are filled with so much personality. They love being hand fed, they will take treats and hay right out of your hands. They are definitely use to the spoiled life style. However, they do get bored and stressed very easily. Just a few days without interaction and they will start to groom themselves excessively, meaning they will mutilate their fur. Which is exactly what Holly started to do. Chinchillas are not easy pets and take a lot of time and dedication to properly care for one. Though the family who owned these chinchillas knew how to take care of them, in the past couple of weeks it has become harder for them to give them the attention they so desperately crave and therefore made the hard decision to surrender them. Holly and Molly will be adopted together as they are bonded sisters. However, they will be on watch for the next couple of weeks to make sure the self mutilation has stopped and that they are happy and healthy to go to their furever home. 🐾💜

10 days ago, Momma Sophia gave birth to 3 little Pups. 2 days ago, Momma Appa gave birth to 4 little Pups. Yesterday, Momma Elizabeth gave birth to 3 little Pups. And today, Momma Peaches(photos below) gave birth to 3 little Pups. This totals the number of 13 baby guinea pigs in just the past 2 weeks alone! And we still have 3 pregnant guinea pigs that we are expecting to give birth. If you can, please consider donating. We are in need of bedding and timothy hay. Both of which can be found at our local Tractor Supply stores. Any monetary donations will be used to purchase these items. We truly appericate the support from our friends, family and the community! When were all standing together, we can and will make a difference! 🐹🐾💜

The past two wheeks have been full of all sorts of Miracles! On Betty Whites birthday, Momma Sophia had 3 little pups named Dorothy, Rose and Blanche. Yesterday Momma Appa had 4 little pups named Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph! And then this morning, Momma Elizabeth gave birth to 3 little pups named Ban, Diane, Merlin! We still have 3 pregnant guinea pigs that are in foster care as well as 2 other guinea pigs that are possibly pregnant that are on pregnancy watch as they were were caged with a male guinea pig before being surrendered into our care. Because of the overwhelming amount of guinea pigs in our care, we are running low on supplies such as bedding, timothy hay and treats. If it is possible, please consider donating to help us cover daily maintenance of their supplies and care. Monterey donations will be used to purchase Bedding and Timothy hay from our local Tractor supply. You can also donate by any of the following options below :

On Wednesday, one of our board members assisted a women who is getting evicted and pleaded for help. Though the owner really cared for these guinea pigs and did the best she could for them, she didn't have the proper cage set up which separated the males from the females. Instead she would let them free roam. This isn't technically a bad thing, however you should never allow different genders to spend time together, specially unsupervised. Since they were free roaming piggies, one of the females had 3 babies and the other female is very pregnant. Because of these latest surrenders, STARS is currently taking care of 42 guinea pigs. We are asking our community once again for their support to help us with these guinea pigs daily maintenance. Please consider donating. We have an Amazon wishlist where items can be purchased and sent right to the rescue. ( https://smile.amazon.com/.../2SGV4.../ref=smi_ext_lnk_lcl_cl ) Or please consider making a monetary donation which will be used to buy bedding and hay from our local Tractor Supply as well as any medical care they may need. We buy a bag of bedding for 7 dollars each (it takes 5 bags to clean every single cage, so we go through 10 bags every week) and we buy our hay for 20 dollars that lasts us about 2 weeks. We truly appreciate any support weather it be donating or sharing this post! STARS is also participating in the where we are asking everyone on FaceBook to donate to a rescue of their choice just $5 dollars to honor Betty White. Persephone is a special needs kitty cat that is looking for her furever family. Little Persephone has cerebellar hypoplasia. Despite this, she does amazingly on her own, running around, even attempting to climb. She might need help here and there, but everyday she is learning her limits and gets better as everyday passes. CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) or better known as wobbly cat syndrome is a non-progressive, non-contagious neurological condition that results in walking and balance problems. A kitten is born with “CH” when her cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls fine motor skills and coordination, is underdeveloped at birth.

A little update on the DS kitties. Mama which is named Espresso was spayed Wednesday morning and is now healing. She is still very timid of her surroundings but with a lot of love and patience, we think she has the potential of being an adoptable kitty in the near future. Her kittens have came to understand they are now in a safe environment and have been slowly coming out of their shells. Specially this little kitty in this video. She is one of the first to realize that we are here to help. We have named this little girl, Purrito.
