Happy Sunday! We’ve been busy busy at AJD this month. Here’s part 1 of the new friends we’ve met this month for daycare & sleepovers!

Hey AJD Family!

We’re so excited to announce that we were awarded one of Erie County’s Storefront Revitalization Grants! These Grants were created to help local small businesses get a physical facelift for their storefronts and we’re so happy to be able to update our facade! 🥰

Renovations will be taking place from
Monday, September 9th through Thursday, September 12th.
We will be closed for daycare only Monday though Thursday that week, but we still be offering overnight boarding (on a limited basis) for those dates. As always, humans will still be in the building for our friends sleeping over.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your support as always! 💙

We can’t wait for you all to see our new look! 🥹☺️

Yesterday Victoria talked with 7 News WKBW about the importance of keeping your pups cool during the heatwave. Some of the pups also made an appearance! 🥰

We are officially approaching the dog days of summer so experts are providing tips on how to keep your pet safe.

Hey AJD Family,
We have made the difficult decision to CLOSE FOR DAYCARE ONLY this TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY (6/18, 6/19, and 6/20).

As you know, dogs don’t sweat in the same way we do, and it’s difficult for them to cool themselves as efficiently as we humans can.

While our building does have Central Air Conditioning, our A.C. unit does struggle to keep up when we are at full capacity for daycare, and we don’t want to put any of our four-legged friends in a potentially dangerous position with the extreme heat conditions that are predicted this week.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but as always, we want to err on the side of caution for the safety of our pups.

We will still have staff in the building, 24/7 to care for our boarding dogs, so please give us a call if you have any further questions or have an issue that you need help with.

Stay cool! Feel free to reach out vet for any tips on keeping your pup cool and safe!

Happy Eclipse Weekend!

AJD will still be open Monday. But we will make sure the humans get to see the eclipse. We have our safety viewing glasses ready. We also got a pair of dog goggles or doggles for any pup who just needs to go potty during the eclipse 😂

Dogs don’t know to look up at the sun for fun like humans do. But we thought if we have cool glasses, why not the pups! The most handsome man Louie is modeling a pair we have! So dashing!

We will most likely keep the pups inside during the eclipse, for their overall safety. Their perfect eyes will remain perfect! This was mainly for all of us😂🤣

We’re so excited to announce that Kayleena, who’s worked with us for almost EIGHT YEARS (!), has had her first baby! Both Mom and Baby Girl are doing well!
It’s our first AJD Human baby in 9 years, and we can’t wait to cuddle her and welcome Kayleena back this summer after her Maternity Leave!

Some of her favorite fur friends wanted to send well wishes to her, Andrew, and Baby Rowynn! We all love you so much Kay! 🥰🐾💙

We’re heartbroken to share that little Charlie, Mallory and Katie’s pup, crossed the Rainbow Bridge this past Saturday after a diagnosis of advanced stage Cancer.

Charlie joined Mallory’s family 6 years ago after her original owner passed away, and it was clear that they were a perfect match from the beginning. Charlie adored coming into work with Mallory, and getting pets and cuddles from all the staff and clients that came into the lobby. She loved helping new shy dogs and puppies get comfortable, and cuddling up with her geriatric friends.
While Charlie lost mobility in her back legs a few years ago, she never lost her zest for life. She loved sunning herself on warm days, and trying to crawl directly into the souls of her human friends. She loved going for walks in her stroller, and wedging herself, snug as a bug, between Katie and Mallory. When Mallory and Katie had to travel without her, Charlie loved going to visit her God Mom Samantha and her cat, Penelope, catching rays in her backyard by the pool.
In the lobby at A Joyful Dog, all the pups took turns cuddling her, keeping her warm, and loving on her. We joked around that Charlie thought she was a Greyhound, too, and she loved laying belly-up, just like Norman and Rodger and Sage.
She was a truly joyful and loving spirit whose absence will be felt everyday, but we’re so glad we had the privilege of knowing her and getting to share life with her. We know she’s enjoying endless sunny days and the ability to run again, but we miss her so much already 💔🌈🐾

Hey AJD Family!

We will be doing two photo shoots with the pups this month! St. Patricks Day shoot will be Friday March 15th and our Easter shoot will be Thursday March 28th and Friday March 29th.

All scheduled daycare and sleepover pups will get a photo and some treats! Make sure your schedule your babe before so we can see their perfect face! We will also accepts walk ins (in case daycare fills up those days) for $5.

We can’t wait for all the cuteness and madness that comes with photo shoot day!
