We have some sad news to share. Stella went into her first heat cycle since having the puppies last spring, and we ran into some complications. It seems either her pyometra was returning, or she was having a false pregnancy, which likely would have resulted in the pyometra returning. Because health always comes first, we made the hard decision to have Stella spayed last week. She is doing remarkably well! Unfortunately, there will be no more Stella puppies. Our next round of puppies will come from Ruby, but not till 2025. Hug your puppies tight if you were lucky enough to get one of Stella‘s puppies. They will always hold a special place in my heart! No matter how many puppies come through my door, Stella will always be the one that changed everything for me. She will always be my baby. 💕

I’m not sure why but Hank has a newly developed fear of storms. He was totally fine the first two years and this summer he has decided he is not fine. His favorite hiding place is the bathtub. 😂 Ruby and Stella are completely unfazed. How are your dogs doing with all this stormy weather?

Mr. Orange just went to his new home. At this point, everyone has a home, and we are only waiting for Miss Yellow to get picked up on Friday. What a terrific litter this has been! Thanks for following along!

This is such a bittersweet weekend! Eight weeks of constant care gets rewarded by sending the puppies home to wonderful families, but it sure makes me a roller coaster of emotions! These update pictures help! So glad all seem to be doing well so far. 💚🩵

Mr. Orange is such a smiley guy! And that dark red coat makes me swoon! I’ve included a photo of his full brother, Hank. I think he’s going to grow up to look just like him!

Mr. Orange is a real beef-cake! And yet the sweetest cuddler you could find. He’s 8 weeks old tomorrow and ready to find a new home. He’s going to be an awesome buddy for someone!

It’s hard to believe it’s already been seven weeks! It’s hard to believe it’s already time to start saying goodbye. Miss Purple went home with her wonderful new family this morning, a girl I’ve known for nearly 30 years. That’s the only thing that makes this a little bit easier. Her husband surprised her with Miss Purple, and I think she’s going to be the perfect fit! 💜

It’s been an exciting morning and I think I may have all the girls spoken for. That leaves Mr. Orange the last pup standing. 🧡 He’s such a handsome guy! He’s going to have the same beautiful, dark red coat as his brother Hank.

I’m currently out in the dog kennel with the puppies supervising their first breakfast of hard kibble. This is the first time it didn’t get soaked in goat milk. No one is choking, and they seem to be loving it! This just made my life so much easier!

This is Hank. We kept Hank from Stella’s first litter two years ago. Hank is a full sibling to this year’s litter. I think most of the puppies will have this beautiful dark coat. 😍

Oh, Mr. Red! This little boy has my heart! He is small, but mighty for sure! He is never kept from his goal once he sets his mind to some thing. He’s always wrestling with someone but once you pick him up, he settles right in for a good cuddle. ❤️

I call Miss Yellow my sunshine puppy! She is often the first one sitting at the gate, waiting for some loves. She loves to cuddle, but is also always ready to play. Who needs a little sunshine at their house? 💛

Mr. Orange is solid little guy! I think he might grow into a bruiser, but you never can tell. He is super chill and calms right down as soon as you pick him up. 🧡

Last night Rob and I had to mow so we used it as an opportunity to get the puppies accustomed to new unusual noises. We put them in the outside kennel, fed them their puppy mush, and went to work. When I checked on them, they were sound asleep in the food dish, completely oblivious to the mowers in the yard around them. Later I took a puppy break and cuddled Miss Willow. (Purple) She is a sweet little thing!

What a fun puppy picking weekend! We are down to just 3 puppies still available. The puppies are 4 weeks old today and will go to their new homes in just 4 more weeks. Time is flying by!

These guys are keeping me on my toes! We walked in last night to discover them having a splash fight in their water bowl! Everyone was soaked! After a good toweling off and a bedding change, I set up a space heater to help them dry off without getting chilled. A huge thanks to Emily for all the help!

The puppies got lots of cuddles from their multiple visitors this weekend. Puppy mush is a big hit and an even bigger mess! Oh, and their teeth are coming in! A fact Stella is definitely not happy about! 😆

These puppies can be just plain silly! Mr. Green had crawled up on the railing, and was looking out the door, and then fell asleep, straddling the railing! He slept like that for several minutes, until I finally lifted him down. 😆

It’s been a big week in the whelping box! The puppies graduated to a bigger collar size, they have started playing with toys, their teeth are just about to break through and they’ve had multiple visitors of various ages. And this morning they took their first taste of puppy mush! They loved it and Stella appreciates the supplementation.

I just have to brag on these puppies! Last week, while their eyes were still closed, I put a potty pad in the corner of the whelping box. It is amazing to see how often they are intentionally going to the bathroom on the potty pad! Now that their eyes are open it is a very common occurrence. This morning I watched Mr. Green stop nursing, crawl over Stella’s head to go to the potty pad and then crawled back over her head, and continued to nurse. In another week or so, we will start taking them outside to go potty. The instincts are so strong. It makes my job easy!

Eyes are starting to open. This is Mr. Silver with his newly discovered sight. And todays weigh in numbers. Stella is keeping up remarkably well! No supplementation needed! 🙌
