We want to say a very grateful THANK YOU to our supporters who've been responding to our donation pleas recently. From cat litter to slipleads to these "gardening utility belts" (which happen to work perfectly for the safety supplies we want dog handling staff to wear in the kennels), it warms our hearts to receive every donation. When we receive in kind items that we need, we're able to invest monetary donations directly to medical care and other costs that aren't as easy to add to a wish list. We appreciate you so much!

🌨️❄️ Snow day vibes, anyone? ❄️🌨️
While you’ve been enjoying the cozy weather, our amazing volunteers Kim and Dan came in this morning to make sure our dogs got some fun in the snow and sunshine! 🐾☀️

We’ve got the cutest pets of all shapes and sizes waiting to meet you today. 💕 Adoption fees for dogs are **50% off** through tomorrow, January 11th! (Some dogs may not be included.)

We’re open until 6:00 PM, so stop by and find your perfect snow-day buddy. Let’s get these sweet pets into warm, loving homes! 🏡❤️

Laundry mountain is back and demands...liquid bleach!

Each day here at the shelter, our staff and volunteers run several loads of laundry to keep pet bedding, grooming towels, cleaning rags, and surgical towels fresh and clean.

Following ASPCApro's Sanitation for Disease Prevention in Animal Shelters guidelines, we wash with hot water and use liquid bleach to sanitize laundry. We also dry on high heat.

You can easily purchase needed donations to be shipped directly to our shelter through our Amazon Wish List, which we'll leave in the comments. You can also always drop donations off in person at HHHS during our operating hours. This way, you can see some of the furry faces you're helping directly on the adoption floor.

These adoptions from yesterday still have us smiling from ear to ear! 😃

We currently have 312 animals under our care (that includes those at the shelter and in foster homes). If you’d like to support our shelter but can't adopt right now, consider donating liquid bleach for laundry (we wash a LOT of pet bedding and towels each day), clumping odor control litter for foster kitties, and pet safe ice melt to keep paws and dogs healthy.

We’re grateful the new year is kicking off with another fundraiser from Reimagined Jewelry to benefit our shelter. 🐾

You can see and purchase these gorgeous earrings at Cafe Quetzal across the street from our shelter on Belle Ave. Each pair is $10 or $15, and 95% of your purchase will be donated to help pets in need! 💞

Whether you’re enjoying the snow, are looking forward to the holiday of love, or would like showing off your love of cats/dogs with your earrings, we know there is a perfect pair for you.

We love a sweet adoption update!

Gunnar (top), one of our PVAA therapy dogs, got a little sister for Christmas. Her name is Gypsy Rose, and she came from Helping Hands Humane Society. Gunnar loves her so much that he even shares his blanket with her!❤️

Have you picked up your $25 2025 HHHS fundraising calendar yet? 🧾 We still have some available in our gift shop! 🛍️ This cutie is the face of March 2025, and we are already dreaming of spring. 🌼 His name was Chicago at the shelter, and he and his siblings were found running in the road. 🐾Donation Need🐾

While for most of the cats at the shelter we purchase pine pellet litter, for fosters (like these cuties), we use odor controlled clumping litter.

We're currently out of clumping clay litter and asking for donations to help our foster kitties. Brands that work very well for us include Fresh Step and Arm & Hammer.

You can easily order a donation to be delivered to us without leaving the comfort of your home! See our Amazon Wish List link in the comments.
