The pups were introduced to Loose Leash Walking
This is only the 3rd lesson on “Place”. Today we practiced going to “Place” from a distance. The distances varied between the puppies, but everyone got it figured out. We also introduced the cue word “Place”. Be proud of your pups!
The Name Game (aka learning to come when called)
Burning off some of that extra energy during recess.
Exploring the concept of “Place”. The lesson learned was that food rewards only came when puppy was in the correct “place”.
This is why your puppy was so tired after school…
Puppy PreSchool Day 1 Recap:
We started the morning with greetings. Some puppies were more social than others, so we split our group of 6 into groups of 3. This made for a low stress welcoming environment that allowed fun loving personalities to light up and shine.
Once everyone was comfortable and confident, we were ready for some passive learning through play.
First lesson of the day, “FOUR ON THE FLOOR”. Puppies were rewarded with food and attention for keeping all 4 paws on the ground.
Second lesson, “Sit For Attention”. Again puppies were rewarded with food for sitting while also giving focused attention to the handler. We worked one-on-one and the slowly into small group sits. I can tell that the puppy parents have been working on that one. Good job, Parents!
Third Lesson, “Recall Game”. The puppies took turns running between one handler to the other when called to “Come”. This is a very exciting, hi-energy game that will wear a puppy out!
If “a tired dog is a good dog” then these pups will be angels in halos tonight. ❤️🐾
