Someone passed this onto us and we thought it was a great idea to share.
With the 4th of July right around the corner we tend to get several calls about dogs getting out, and owners frantically trying to find them. We ask that you make sure your dogs have their collars on, updated contact information on their licenses, or do something similar to the picture below !
We can not scan for microchips. We do not have a scanner, and if the vets offices are closed, we will have to transport any found dogs that are unclaimed to Lake County Dog Shelter.
We love our community fur babies and want to make sure they are safe! 🐾💕

What has Southern Pug, Boston Terrier, and French Bulldog Rescue been doing this week?

Wrinkles (seizures), CeeCee (eye removal), and Little Clyde (possibly healthy.

We’ve been in taking these precious kids from in FL, SC, and NC.

Were possibly excepting another medical puppy that headquarters (Harlee's Angels) will take over once and if surrendered.

They are AFFORDABLE! Cost of a regular vet!

They just treated CeeCee a new Boston.

The Vet is fabulous and staff is amazing!

I have never seen so many ending up as strays (been dumped) and ending up in shelters only to be killed.

PSA .... WE HAVE A NEW BABY ANGEL JOINING THE FLOCK !
Please welcome "Kacee" (it's a KC thing/go Chiefs) to our angelic family.

Nope this little one is not with me, she's hanging in Battle, MO with her saviour!

Thanks to Chance Robinson this adorable 9 month old bug is now safe. She was POSTED as FREE in Joplin so when Chance got off work he went to pick her up. The older couple that had her said she was "TOO HYPER"... really? I mean after all she's only a puppy.

We will be asking for donations soon to help cover her vetting so we can get her into a wonderful furever home.

This is Duckie. He is approximately 3yrs old. He is a pekingese/shihtzu. He is neutered, chipped, has beautiful clean healthy teeth. Dewormed. Deflead. Utd on vaccines. Crate trained... though its really not needed he's fine left out with his tennis ball and a chew. Leash trained. Likes car rides..in your lap. He is house trained if taken out regularly and will use a p*e pad. LOVES tennis balls and chew treats (I will give a list of his favorites that are safe and easy to find) and kid friendly...he chases cats Not sure if it's to play or... so I'm going with no cats.
He is a complete love bug and definitely a "mommas boy". He is healthy except for two small things

1. It doesn't really effect his health in any way but I like to be transparent..he had small scars on both corneas from previous injuried
2. He is currently heartworm positive..BUT he is being treated for it and will not be released until after he completes treatment in July. (Shots in may&june and a test in july to check that hes clear)

As most of you know Dogs that come here (Amber's) RARELY ever leave here . This boy is you and will be healthy so as much as I'd like him to stay.. this is not the right place for him. He needs a family and I need to save what little room I have (we have 16 permanent residents already) for a severe senior/special needs pup. So Duckie IS looking for a new family. My PREFERENCE is that he stays within the HA family with someone I already know and trust if at all possible. If not possible I ofcourse will be extremely picky to the point of annoying about who I approve. This boy has been through hell and I will not risk that happening again.

Very sweet baby but is jealous of other dogs and needs a LOT of attention! She was a puppy mill baby who is going through puppy hood as an adult!

Donate To a Charity and Avoid Taxes on Transfers of Up To $105,000 From Your IRA!

Did you know you can transfer money to a charity directly from your IRA (known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, “QCD”) – and it’s great for all concerned:
¯ You make a donation to your favorite charities(s).
¯ The money given to the charity counts toward your required minimum distribution (“RMD”) -- if you’re 73 years old or older, you must withdraw money from your IRA – whether you want to or not.
¯ Doesn't increase the donor's adjusted gross income (AGI) or generate a tax bill. Keeping the donation out of your adjusted gross income matters because: (1) it helps you qualify for other tax breaks (i.e. having a lower AGI can reduce the threshold for deducting medical expenses, which are only deductible to the extent they exceed 7.5% of AGI); (2) reduces taxes on your Social Security benefits, and (3) helps you avoid a high-income surcharge for Medicare Part B & Part D premiums (which kick in if AGI is over certain levels).

Also, QCDs don't require that you itemize, which due to the recent tax law changes, means you may decide to take advantage of the higher standard deduction, but still use a QCD for charitable giving. (You can’t claim the QCD as a charitable tax deduction).

Can you make a QCD? While many IRAs are eligible for QCDs (Traditional, Rollover, Inherited, SEP [inactive plans only], and SIMPLE [inactive plans only]) — there are specific requirements:
¯ You must be 70½ or older to be eligible to make a QCD.
¯ QCDs are limited to the amount that would otherwise be taxed as ordinary income. This excludes non-deductible contributions.
¯ The current maximum annual amount that can qualify for a QCD is $105,000. This applies to the sum of QCDs made by you to one or more charities in a calendar year. (If you file taxes jointly, your spouse can also make a QCD from their IRA within the same tax year for up to $100,000).
¯ For a QCD to count towards your current year's RMD, the funds must come out of your IRA by your RMD deadline, generally December 31.
¯ Amounts donated above your RMD don’t count toward satisfying a future year's RMD.

Keep the records from your IRA custodian showing that the money was transferred directly to the charity. And keep the acknowledgment from the charity of the gift, as you would with any other donation.

A tax advisor can help you determine if both your IRA and charity qualify for QCDs (not all charities qualify), the impact on state withholding and how to properly fill out tax forms so that you don’t overpay.

Also, consider your COMPANY MATCH. Many companies will match an employee's donation to a nonprofit. Check with your employer to see if they offer this option.
