We got a call if we can take this cat that came into the shelter. He was at the shelter for only 3 days. On day 4, he was going to be euthanized. Sadly, shelters are full, and they can not give him the timely attention he needs, getting expressed and cleaned.
Since moving into our new place, we have taken in 5 more dogs. We decided to take him in. What's one more kitty. He has an appointment with our vet. For now, we are doing pretty good with the expressing, just like Kenny, another shelter tail amputee we have. Our homeopath vet did amazing work on Kenny. I hope for the same for Kuro Chan.πββ¬ He came at a good time for us.We have started our fundraiser to help with medical care, food therapy, and the roof over the rescues. Lily didn't get the memo. No cats in the reception area . She is such a princess.
Amazing Shelbi is walking. She was hit by a car on a Apache reservation in Arizona. The rescue Tails of Love did not have foster for a paralyzed dog so she stayed at their vets Blue Ridge Pet Clinic until we moved into out new place. During that time she got acupuncture and lots of loveand care by the staff. Nature is amazing like Goldie her body adapted to the change. Listen to what happened to her bones and yet she started walking. We took in a paralyzed dog and received one that walks and pees and poops on her own. No wheelchair for her in place of that she will get swim therapy and laser treatment.
Took our newest rescues, Shelbi and Goldie, for checkups. Looks like Goldie was born with deformed legs, so doc said save your money on x rays. Shelbi did get x rays to see how she healed from 5 months ago in Arizona. Call from doc that Goldies blood work ,fecal, UA was all good . Shelbi had xrays done they were shocking because she is walking and didn't have surgery . Waiting for the other clinic in Arizona to send her medical records to see if we need to have bloodwork and etc done again. So just did x rays. Posting good the x rays next.
Thursday morning visit to Switzer Learning Center .
The DAWGS are back at school. Its been almost 2 years since Covid year and lock downs. They are little troopers and know what to do. Finn did great on his first time being in the DAWGS pack.

For those following Lily. She is doing great. keep clicking to the right and she has a surprise for everyone. Excuse the noise it was feeding time at @dharma_rescue, she too was waiting for her breakfast.
Even though we rescued Lily, there were others involved in her rescue. The truth is we had no intention of getting another paralyzed animal. Our vet bills seem to never get completely paid, rent is due, utilities, food. This is a good reason why the Handicapble contest is so important to our rescue. Its our only fundraiser each year. Getting off topic here but for those of you who have disabled pets we could use your participation by just entering. Its FREE. We will handle getting voters.
Back to Lily. Lily was shot by a BB gun. She was hit by probably a car and had a fractured back and pelvis. She was pregnant. A man found her crawling under his car. He had no money to take her to a vet so went on social media and asked for help. A local person, Alyssa offered to pay the vet bills. The man said he couldn't keep her. So she took her home. She had cats and a dog and did not know what to do with a paralyzed cat. Four or five days Lily had a miscarriage. The vet she went to did not say or know she was pregnant. Alyssa woke up in the morning with blood surrounding Lily and kittens dead in their sacs.
Alyssa went on line and she found a site where she could email 70 or so rescues. We got the email. But we were not taking in any more until we could finances. I did email her and offered to teach her how to express and care for a paralyzed cat. She accepted the offer. The next day she got a call from the Trevor Foundation for cats they offered to have a possible surgery done but she would have to drive her 65 miles for their vet to examine Lily. We said great and since she would be driving past us, if she had to wait for the surgery date and go home with her she could stop by and we would still show her how to express her. She called us and said the vets were re
This is long but my vet lets me video our visits. Makes it less for me to write. But here is a background on Lily in a nutshell.
She is from Riverside 60 miles away from us. She was found crawling under a car . She was shot with a BB gun, hit by a car, a good samaritan took her to unfortunately a not very kind ,caring vet , who didn't recognize a pregnant cat . A few days later she had a miscarriage, 5 kittens.
More later on how she ended up with us .
Lily. She is so sweet even after what she has been through. Tomorrow is her vet appointment and we should have a plan for. We have already started consulting with holistic vet Dr. Dee Blanco https://drdeeblanco.com/ starting with Arnica for her pain, as you can see it's working. Holistic and Conventional, that's how we roll. π»πΏπΎπ§ββοΈπ
We are at or maxed capacity for a new paralyzed animal but if you know her journey and there was a chance she was going to be euthanized because no.one knew how or wanted to care for her. Crap we couldn't turn our backs on her. Lily is her name now. More about how she became a Dharma kitty
Finn's first time at water therapy. He was hit by a car and he had a failed plate surgery to his rear leg. Swimming is the best therapy for him. #swimtherapy #swimtherapyfordogs #swimtherapyfordogsofinstagram #dharma_rescue #adoptdontshop
π Woo hoo!!! Finally she made it to swim therapy with our favourite swim therapist Stacey. π₯° Finn swims like a guppyπ Thank you to everyone who donated to Finn . He had vet check and x rays and now we start swimming.
