Happy Monday RAH family & friends! Help celebrate Black History Month with us as we honor the remarkable contributions of Dr. Alfreda Johnson Webb, a pioneer in veterinary medicine! 🩺❤️🐾

Dr. Johnson Webb made history in 1949 as the first African-American woman to graduate with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Tuskegee Institute, marking a significant milestone in the field. Her dedication to animal care and education continued as she served as a professor of biology and mathematics at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.. During her time at this university, she was a member of the planning committee which founded the School of Veterinary Medicine of North Carolina State University. In 1971, she became the first Black woman in the North Carolina General Assembly, serving on many committees including serving as the Chairperson of Minority Affairs.

Join us in commemorating her legacy and let’s continue to inspire and strive for diversity in the veterinary field! 🩺❤️🐾
