Spanky had a visit at the Vet today and he typically starts barking when he walks through the door. He didn’t bark today and a lady even reached down and petted him and his mom was very excited about the progress that he’s made.

Ok everyone, I’m going to start this Group Post off! On facebook, I put a post on, asking anyone that has a dog or more than one that has graduated with us to like this family page. This is a place where you can ask questions, talk to others in the group about meeting up and going to the park and training with each other. This family Group page is NOT for people who are disgruntled to run anyone down or talk about anything negative. This page is to help each other with our dogs, dog training, dog training tips from us and to support one another. You should be able to post on this page and answer people in the comments. If you have any issues with it, please message me(Tara) and let me know! Have fun and ask questions on this page.

Does this sound like anybody you guys know? All of these things also say that your dog, more than likely, but not always, has Separation Anxiety. Yes, everyone loves it when their dog is going to stay at boarding and the dog is pulling and pulling, trying to get back to you. Now, step back for a moment and think about it this way, think about when you are feeling that little bit of “yeah, I know my dog loves me” kind of feeling as your proudly walking out the door, but do you ever think about how your dog is REALLY feeling? Separation Anxiety is when dogs have anxiety because they either never had confidence or they lost it along the way because they were coddled through life instead of being guided on things that they were afraid of. They can’t speak to you and tell you verbally how they feel, so they have to show you in different ways, and typically, it’s not going to be good for either one of you. Do you ever notice your shoes have disappeared or your socks, or maybe even your underwear? What? The dog is running around the house with your underwear, socks, your husbands sweaty gym shoes! You find them chewed up, or the dog has swallowed the sock or underwear? To the Vet we go for a expensive surgery to get the object out of the dogs stomach. Another example would be that you notice that your dog is having a hard time pooping and you have to glove up and pull it out of your dogs butt. You’re not happy, and neither is your dog. One more example. A piece of furniture that your great grandmother had passed down from generation to generation and when you got home from dinner, your dog chewed it up. It’s not the dogs fault. Your dog was left at home alone to make its own decisions and you were not there to give your dog guidance when your dog was bored, so they made a bad choice and chewed the family furniture up. All of these things are like a domino effect on how you raise your dog and how you correct them. Seeing this memory from 5 years ago it’s hard to believe how far Franklin has come . He was completely unruly , stubborn, totally uncontrollable . I was even considering finding him a home . Ollie hated him and would viciously attack him. It was all I could do to keep them separate.

I was searching for a trainer that would just come get him and “fix” him. A friend of mine recommend I call Tara Allen , The Greenville Dog Wizard. She came and we talked about the different training plans available.

She took him for two weeks and when she brought him back the change was remarkable. She taught him several commands that absolutely changed our lives .

It turns out that because I had to keep him separated , by gates, because of Ollie’s attacks, he was simply starved for freedom and attention.

The answer was communication. . Tara taught us to communicate . Today I can’t imagine life without Franklin ( aka Frank the Tank )

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that we are going to be starting Saturday Support Group Class back soon. I can’t as of right now because I am sick, but as soon as I’m better in a couple of weeks, we will start Support. Group Class back. I’m sure that there are plenty of dogs snd owners that are needing our help right now with COVID and lack of socialization, and staying home all of the time, people and dogs are going to need a outlet, so let’s do it right! Saturday Support Group Class. I will keep you updated on when class will begin as soon as I’m well!

Hello everyone! I’m hoping everyone is doing well and have made it through COVID 19 with little to no problems out of your dogs. Just remember, you guys have been home, your dog has got used to you being home and they have been with you more. People are going back to work now, things are slowly going back to some kind of normal for us again, people are starting to get out a little more everybday, but.....
Wait a minute, put the brakes on.
Think about your dog. Now, they have been with you all of this time and things are going back to normal for you, you’re going back to work, but what about your dog? What will they do now that you’re not going to be home all day? Do you trust them enough to leave them out of the crate all day, because you have been together all day and he/she has been out of the crate this whole time.....
Well, guess what let’s face it, our dogs are more than likely going to have some separation anxiety if we don’t start getting them back to their normal, while we are getting prepared to go back to work. If not, it’s going to be super hard for them to adjust to what they used to know as normal again. With that being said, we will be startingg Group Class again on Saturday June 13th at noon. We will meet at a park so we can have plenty of room to continue with social distancing for ourselves and our dogs that have more than likely, not been around many dogs since COVID 19 started, so for some of you, it will be like starting all over and for others, you may see new behaviors out of your dogs that you haven’t seen before. We are here to help, so please bring your dogs to Saturday Support Group Class Saturday June 13th at noon. I will post the location of group class on Facebook the week of class. Everyone please stay safe and we will see you on the 13th. If you have any questions, you can call, text, or message me on Facebook.

Hello Greenville Dog Wizard Family! We are going to start doing out Saturday Support Groups via Zoom(as soon as I (Tara) figure out how to do it.) In hopes that we can at least do some Question and Answer type things and a little bit of training along with a little bit of homework with things that you’re having issues with. If anyone that has a dog that, that has graduated one of our programs, is interested, please message me or text me and let me know that you’re interested and I will get the process going. I will post when we are going to have it if there are enough people interested.

Also, if you guys know anyone with puppies, we are still doing the 14 and 21 Day Puppy Jumpstart Board and Train Programs at a 10% discount and our regular 14 and 21 Day Jumpstart Programs for the adult dogs. If anyone is interested in one of those programs, please give the office a call at 864-704-1418 and they will get that scheduled for you. Those programs are also 10% discount.

Everyone please welcome Kira to The Dog Wizard Greenville family. KIRA is a young, energetic, German Shepherd that needs to learn to calm down while in public. KIRA is in our 2 week board and train program to learn how to properly act in public, heel, and to protect her mom while walking in areas that may not be safe. Watch KIRA as she grows throughout the next couple of weeks.

Last night, The Dog Wizard Greenville did a demonstration and talk with the Girl Scout Troop In Travelers Rest along with another guest, Officer Hugo of The Greenville County K9 Unit. Blaise and Hugo did a wonderful job at demonstrating what we do for dogs and the freedom that we create for both dogs and dog owners and what Hugo’s job is with the K9 Unit. We enjoyed teaching these girls about what we do as dog trainers and handlers. Next, I will put a video on of the Troop feeling the Ecollar stimulus and...liking it!
