Opal is still here!

Hi everyone! Meet Opal. She is a recent rescue from nice people who's daughter couldn't take her when she moved. We are still learning about her, and her mannerisms. She loves to be out of her cage and riding along on her person's head. She will tweet for you to come let her out. She may have some separation anxiety....so it would be great if her new family had someone that was able to spend LOTS and LOTS of time at home with her. She would be a great companion for a Parent or Grandparent that lives alone and would like some company. Interested in Opal? Message me!

All of the parrots here at the aviary have been permanent residents. Despite how we have grown attached, and how much we love them all.....there comes a time when we have to send them on to their new lives, to be able to rescue more parrots in need. Bailey Bird is ready for her new home. She is a Blue Front Amazon around 20yrs old, seems to like men better, but she would make a good companion for anyone. She loves to be around people, (best to have her cage in the family room with everyone) and loves conversations. She knows a handful of words, and sings her own rendition of happy birthday. She may not be kid friendly...remember all parrots bite, and can get loud sometimes. It all depends on how comfortable she is in her environment. She comes with her cage. What do you all think of this rough draft of a logo for the rescue? (I still need to fix the rough edge shapes too, I'm no professional, lol) I can move anything, and change any colors around. Input??

Mulling around the idea of turning Syd's page into an aviary/rescue page in his memory. We have room for one or two more, and thought helping another bird it might be a good thing to do as a tribute to his life. What does everyone think? Would you all stay and support our efforts? If so, any ideas for a rescue/aviary name?

Sydney the naked chicky-too is back home. Thank you so much Great Lakes Pet Memorial for taking such good care of him. We sure miss him. Thanks to everyone who left kind words at his passing.

Sydney passed away yesterday from a seizure. It was so sudden, our hearts are broken, as well as everyone's who had ever met him. There wasn't a human he didn't like. He will be missed by everyone. Goodnight birdie. 💔😢

Hi everyone! I love that you have been asking about me! I'm doing great, despite the fact that my feathers come and go. I hang out in the aviary with my four feathered siblings, so I always have company. Every night I know if I scream long enough, my feathered family will yell at me in human words "shut up birdie!" and Mom will come and get me so I can hang out on her shoulder. (I'm a smart birdie, and have things all figured out you see) Thanks for checking up on me! ❤ Sydney

Mom says I look cute as a flower with my new collar! I'm not a huge fan, but it's sure better than my sweater- plus, Mom says it will help my feathers grow back. With all the money she saved making it herself, she can afford more treats for ME!!! 💙

What are you doing with all those baby toys that are no longer played with?? Please consider donating them my parrot family! Parrot toys get rather expensive...and get destroyed quickly. My Mom usually buys from garage sales, but that's not really working out too well this year!

Sydney here! Mom says I'm doing a good job growing back my feathers! I have big feathers on my neck now, and peachy colored down feathers coming in all over! I don't even try to pick them out anymore. Have a good day everyone!
