Many dogs like affection already, but it can be so exciting that it makes it hard for them to function and stay calm! If a dog is more fearful or nervous, remember to take it slow and let them have the option to choose whether or not to approach and interact with you.

Collin visits SAVE, A Friend to Homeless Animals to teach adoptable Roxie Hart how to play the "Leave It" game so that she can learn to leave items and objects on the ground instead of picking them up or eating them. This game is a great safety exercise to redirect dogs and prevent unwanted interactions and accidental ingestions of all sorts of things.

Val was adopted from a shelter, and she can have a hard time controlling her excitement when she sees other dogs, strollers, bicycles, joggers, and all sorts of things when her owner walks her on leash.
