🔥Seeking reliable, honest, and 150% trustworthy long-term housemate on a small farm 🔥
-Must have references, both personal and professional. Small deposit and short or long term lease contract required which can be extended.

Would consider rent reduction in exchange for responsible, reliable care of animals.
-Must be comfortable caring for/feeding a variety of animals,including horses, as well as cleaning up after yourself!
-Animal care/Assistance would only take about 1/2 hour-1 hr of your day, 3 days per week, so plenty of left over time for your main job/school etc.
-Open pasture space available for a maximum of 1 horse, pricing negotiable for this.
- local and nearby tons of trail riding and horse events
-For the perfect person who is willing to assist with animal care on the farm, rent is offered at an EXTREMELY reduced rate. ✨ This is not a paid position or rent free position✨ It is offering reduced cost living expenses and possible board of one horse in exchange for a very small amount of specific daily care/upkeep at my facility.

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

While chatting with a landowner we have known for over 10 years, a snake hater turned snake admirer, this Timber Rattlesnake appeared behind him. When Kiley gave him the heads up, instead of jumping away, he calmly said, "Oh, that fella's been helping me split wood all day". Watching his conversion from snake fear to peaceful coexistence over the past decade is truly inspiring. It’s never too late to unlearn a fear of snakes.

Today is the 1st Day of Fall! 🍁 As temperatures start to get cooler, animals will seek shelter in non ideal locations. We understand that people don’t want mice, snakes, lizards..in their home. However, please NEVER use sticky traps or rodenticides. They are inhumane and the animal suffers a slow and painful death. Instead use live traps, ultrasonic repellers, and unpleasant scents. Just a friendly reminder that we share this planet with our animal friends.

Other humane options but not limited to the following:

*Rodent Repellent sprays sold online
*Irish Spring bars cut up
*Rolling Log Mouse Traps (no water)

Did you know the Timber Rattlesnake was almost our national symbol? Benjamin Franklin fought hard for it. He was actually very displeased with the choice of the Bald Eagle. If interested, here is a portion of an essay he wrote about rattlesnakes. He was a big fan. Happy Independence Day!

This is a viral internet image of a Californian King Snake preying upon an Alligator Lizard. The lizard has bitten the snake in defense and been swallowed from behind while holding on. The outcome was surely a consumed lizard. Snakes are tough and used to being bitten by their prey, but that is not to say it can't injure or potentially kill them if they prey item is itself a strong predator.

Healthy raccoons can be active in the daytime during any time of the year. But as night temperatures fall, you’re more likely to see a raccoon coming out during daylight hours. Raccoons enter a hibernation-like state during winter known as torpor. During this time, they sleep much more often, but will come out on warm days to look for food, while spending nights cuddled up in warm dens with their families. An otherwise healthy-looking raccoon is extremely unlikely to have rabies, even if you see it coming out during the day.
