Are any of you practicing Hygge? It is the Danish art of creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life. Hygge is especially important in the winter. One of the ways that we often create a warm atmosphere in winter is with scented candles and essential oils. This is a very round about way to let you know that essential oils - ingested or inhaled - can be extremely harmful to your pet especially if they have pre-existing liver issues!

Signs of poisoning caused by essential oils include:

* Difficulty breathing
* Uncoordinated gait
* Drooling
* Lethargy
* Weakness
* Muscle tremors
* Mouth or facial pawing
* Lip, gum, tongue or skin redness or burns
* Vomiting

If your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms call Pet Poison Helpline (855) 764-7761 and your vet immediately. Our phone number is (609) 520-2000.

We completely get wanting to make winter as enjoyable as possible but just like with lilies in the springtime, essential oils may not be worth the risk if you have pets. PLEASE SHARE this post so we can help prevent any pet from being poisoned by essential oils this winter!

Today is September 1st, which means Sniper has officially been in the shelter for 1 whole year. There’s no party & nothing to celebrate. We are devastated that this good boy who loves people doesn’t know the love of a Furever Home.

No dog deserves to spend this length of time in a shelter, regardless of how well they’re taken care of, how many friends they’ve made, etc. We are now seeking to place Sniper with a rescue or sanctuary. Our favorite boy deserves his own home or space, with permanent people to take care of him. We are asking our friends and followers for help with securing placement for Sniper. *** He will remain available for adoption in the meantime.

Sniper, 5-6 years old, is an amazing dog who has excelled in training and commands. He doesn’t seem to mind some dogs, but needs to be placed as a single pet to start.
