Heart worm (dirofilaria immitis)

This is a drop of blood from a patient that was presented for excessive coughing! The radiograph showed severe changes that you see on heart worm patients. The dog was tested positive for heart worms and this is a small drop of his blood under the microscope. You can actually see the parasite swimming in the blood.
