The PUPPIES have arrived! Mama Zaida welcomed an adorable bundle of puppies this week at the City of Trinidad Animal Shelter! Mama and pups are happy, healthy, and resting comfortably in our 'Mutternity' Ward. Right now we're letting Mama and the mini fluffs rest and enjoy some peace and quiet together, but stay tuned, because they are CUTIE PIES and we promise to share some more pics soon 🩷🩵

🚫🎆 Fireworks + Pets = A Dangerous Mix 🎆🚫

As we head into the Fourth of July, we’re urging our community to please keep your pets safe and remember: fireworks are ILLEGAL within city limits.

Every year, frightened animals flee their homes, scale fences, or even break through windows during fireworks season. Many are never reunited with their families. 💔

Here’s how you can help keep your pets safe:

🐾 Keep pets indoors in a secure, quiet room
🐾 Turn on the TV or play soothing music to mask loud noises
🐾 Make sure your pets are wearing updated ID tags and are microchipped
🐾 Never take your pets to fireworks displays
🐾 Report illegal fireworks activity to local authorities

Let’s make this a safe and peaceful holiday for everyone—including our four-legged friends. 🐶🐱❤️

📍 No appointment needed

💳 Must pay by credit or debit card

Price includes:
✅ Microchip installation
✅ QR code tag for your pet’s collar
✅ In-store microchip registration

Microchipping is now required under the City of Trinidad Microchip Ordinance, and this is a fast, affordable way to comply and protect your pet if they ever get lost.

Today, we had the incredible honor of hosting the board of Animal Welfare Association of Colorado (AWAC) at the City of Trinidad Animal Shelter for a tour and powerful conversations about the future of animal welfare in our state.

It was deeply inspiring to sit down with such a dedicated group of advocates, each bringing their unique perspective, passion, and expertise to the table. These conversations matter. They are how change begins. With transparency, collaboration, and a shared goal of doing right by animals and the people who care for them.

We’re especially grateful for the fellowship shared over a fantastic lunch afterward because sometimes, the most impactful ideas are sparked when walls come down and community steps in.

Organizations like the Animal Assistance Foundation and the strong leadership within AWAC play a crucial role in shaping the future of animal welfare in Colorado. Their support for local shelters, thoughtful policy engagement, and commitment to ethical care set the bar for what’s possible when we work together.
