Give the gift of fostering this holiday season. Adopting a pet is a big commitment, but fostering is a short-term commitment that can work wonders for dogs, cats, or rabbits in the shelter who need a little extra TLC or a break from the stress of shelter kennels. Happy Adoption Story: Achilles
Watch the moment Achilles is adopted on March 21, 2024- as MCAS staff say goodbye.
"This dog was an absolute π― love bug and obviously a staff favorite! Until March 21, he had been at MCAS since June of 2023! He came in with his brother, Zeus, who was also just as big of a Teddy Bear as he was. Zeus was adopted shortly after his hold time was up and I'm sure Achilles would have been too if he had not injured himself! He tore a ligament in his knee and was not using the leg at all at first. MCAS sent him to a surgical specialist for a consultation. Much to our surprise, the surgeon said his injury may heal with strict rest and limiting his activity. Since then, our team at MCAS- especially our wonderful animal health department and the ACT 1 kennel staff- gave Achilles the extra attention needed everyday to follow doctor's orders and help him to heal! It was a long haul, but we didn't give up on him. And on March 21, he finally went to his new home with some wonderful people that are already sending us pictures!" -Yevette, MCAS
