We are once again asking for your support to find an adopter for Hermes. Will you please like and share with your people? Hermes is a top dog with a heart of gold! This intelligent, affectionate, and gentle boy has been a longer-term resident with us since December and is ready to find his forever family. 💕 He's a sweet guy and a real cuddler, he will happily lean in for affection once he is comfortable and has appropriately met everyone! After he's gotten his energy out for the day, he's happiest just hanging out and cuddling with his loved ones. Hermes still has that youthful dog energy and enjoys walks, playing fetch, and has even trotted happily alongside his person for short distances. He also LOVES participating in playgroup with many of his dog friends, though he is partial to the ladies!🐾 He's eager to learn and already knows several commands, including sit, stay, and almost lay down. He's also a champ on leash (harness attached)! He's currently working on his door manners, learning to wait patiently, sit while leashing/ unleashing, and wait for his people to enter the house before him. Because of his desire to be with his people, he'd do best with a person or family who is home more often than not and a home with children over 8 years of age.

Can you help find an adopter for Richie the cat in foster care? Richie is a handsome, soft, orange tabby with beautiful green eyes. His past history is unknown, but he is very shy. It took over a month before he was comfortable enough with his foster volunteer to allow her to pet him. Now, though, she can rub his fluffy belly, tail, head, feet, wherever. He loves to be petted and will purr and make biscuits, but only on his terms, when he feels comfortable with someone. He is learning how to collaboratively play with a string toy, and he does like to bat felt mice and balls around to entertain himself. He has perfect litter box habits and keeps himself very well groomed. Once he's comfortable, he even tolerates nail trimming. He is a good eater and loves churu treats—they're a great incentive to learn about new people and situations! He hasn't been around children, dogs, or other cats, but he really thinks he would do best as an only pet, in a quiet home, with very patient people who are willing to give him the time he needs to gain confidence and trust. Once he does, he will be so happy to flop next to them and knead gently on their leg, while gazing into their eyes.

Happy Adoption Story: Achilles Watch the moment Achilles is adopted on March 21, 2024- as MCAS staff say goodbye. "This dog was an absolute 💯 love bug and obviously a staff favorite! Until March 21, he had been at MCAS since June of 2023! He came in with his brother, Zeus, who was also just as big of a Teddy Bear as he was. Zeus was adopted shortly after his hold time was up and I'm sure Achilles would have been too if he had not injured himself! He tore a ligament in his knee and was not using the leg at all at first. MCAS sent him to a surgical specialist for a consultation. Much to our surprise, the surgeon said his injury may heal with strict rest and limiting his activity. Since then, our team at MCAS- especially our wonderful animal health department and the ACT 1 kennel staff- gave Achilles the extra attention needed everyday to follow doctor's orders and help him to heal! It was a long haul, but we didn't give up on him. And on March 21, he finally went to his new home with some wonderful people that are already sending us pictures!" -Yevette, MCAS
