I'm Mara, a young husky mix with a heart full of love, a tail that never stops wagging, and a personality that's as sweet as can be. Despite my rough start in life, I'm a super friendly and affectionate girl, eager to meet my forever family. I've got plenty of playful energy, but I'm also a big fan of winding down with cuddles after a good play session. I absolutely adore other dogs - they're some of my favorite playmates, and I'd love to have a furry sibling to share my adventures with. Because of my tough beginnings, I do experience some separation anxiety. Being alone for long stretches of time can be a bit stressful for me, so I'd do best in a home where I'm not left alone for long periods. Happy Adoption Story: Achilles Watch the moment Achilles is adopted on March 21, 2024- as MCAS staff say goodbye. "This dog was an absolute 💯 love bug and obviously a staff favorite! Until March 21, he had been at MCAS since June of 2023! He came in with his brother, Zeus, who was also just as big of a Teddy Bear as he was. Zeus was adopted shortly after his hold time was up and I'm sure Achilles would have been too if he had not injured himself! He tore a ligament in his knee and was not using the leg at all at first. MCAS sent him to a surgical specialist for a consultation. Much to our surprise, the surgeon said his injury may heal with strict rest and limiting his activity. Since then, our team at MCAS- especially our wonderful animal health department and the ACT 1 kennel staff- gave Achilles the extra attention needed everyday to follow doctor's orders and help him to heal! It was a long haul, but we didn't give up on him. And on March 21, he finally went to his new home with some wonderful people that are already sending us pictures!" -Yevette, MCAS
