Today was Dixie’s final on and off-leash obedience training lesson and we couldn’t be any prouder of her and her pawrents 👍🏼🎉 They put in the time, work and dedication necessary to get the most out of her training 👏🏼

Dixie’s lessons were conducted at her house, various parks, Lowe’s and of course at our house so there could be extra playtime at the end with all her friends 😆

We have some new faces to introduce throughout the day — starting off with Layla ✨

Layla is a 8 month old lab who is here for board & train. We will be focusing on her on & off leash obedience with some extra marker training 🐕‍🦺

This pretty girl is friendly, highly driven, and very motivated — she’s just needs some guidance.

Dixie takes on Lowe’s 🛠️🐾

of Dixie’s lesson over the weekend at Lowe’s in Mooresville. We love taking our clients out to various public spots for some of their lessons — whether that is Lowe’s, PetsMart, Tractor Supply or a local park or brewery. Not only is it an excellent way to get some extra exposure and socialization it puts their obedience to the test with lots of external distractions 🤓

Dixie checked out the holiday display, posed with Santa and had fun showing off some of her skills throughout the store ⭐️🎅🏼

Gonzo and Enyo tagged along for the fun and found a couple fun places to “place” 📸

Hello Mr. Rico! 👋🏼

Rico is another one of our clients here for board and train. He is a perfect boy when it’s just him and his family, but he is extremely dog reactive when on leash. In his neighborhood there are a ton of dogs and he becomes very frustrated when he isn’t able to meet them. Along with general on and off-leash obedience we have been, and will continue, to work on that with him over the next couple of weeks 🦮

👀 Remember Dixie?

You might recognize this sweet girl from our feed before — Dixie was one of our foster dogs! She is now here for on/off leash obedience training with her parents and we are so happy to get to see her again 🤗

This was Dixie’s second lesson that focused on “stay.” She had plenty of distractions to put her to the test including her doggie friends, stuffed animals & balls being thrown in front of her.

Emma loves Dixie and spectated most of her lesson and even practiced with her a few times 😆 When Dixie was “free” or was able to take a break her and Emma enjoyed playing chase around the yard. Stayed tuned for Dixie’s progress and training updates!

Checo was here for boarding with refresher and had an adventure packed weekend 🐾

He tagged along to Davidson to spectate the Run for Green 5k/10k/Half Marathon 🏃🏽‍♀️where he met a bunch of new people and received a lot of compliments. He checked out Fall Fest 🚔 in Mooresville and visited the vendors and had his picture taken by their photographer. He also stopped by in Troutman and enjoyed their outdoor area + the beautiful weather ☀️🍷

Say hi to Elvis! 👋🏼🎶

Elvis is a four and a half year old Australian shepherd mix who is here for board and train!

Elvis is super sweet with his family but also exhibits some behaviors that are extremely concerning to his parents. He has issues with resource guarding and is extremely reactive with strangers, especially anytime someone unfamiliar comes into the house. He is so reactive that his parents have to keep him put up when new people come over because he can be a liability. Elvis is also extremely reactive to a brush. He growls and snaps aggressively anytime someone attempts to brush him, making it very difficult and almost impossible to brush out his fur. His parents have talked with several trainers in the past but have not been able to make any significant progress or improvements with Elvis’ reactivity.

Elvis is staying with us for four weeks to complete his On & Off-Leash Obedience and make as much progress as possible with his resource guarding, brush reactivity, and reactivity with new people. Once he goes home we will travel to his home for a couple follow-up lessons to teach his family how to use his training to help manage his behavior and to help translate everything he is learning with us to his own home where his reactivity is much greater and more difficult to control.

Elvis is settling in nicely and excited to learn. Stay tuned for updates and progress reports on how he’s doing!

Happy Monday from C**t! C**t is having a blast hanging out with our dogs and is absolutely rocking his board and train so far. We are continuously finding new ways to challenge him because he’s doing so well.

C**t is an 18 week Merle Golden Doodle who is here for board & train to kick off his obedience training. He is super spunky and happy, but is also very easily distracted 🤪

After spending two weeks with us, he will head home and finish his on and off leash obedience training doing private lessons with his mom. C**t is settling in great and we are very happy to have him here!

𝓜𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽𝔂 💪🏼
Mighty is 20 week old German Shepherd who started training with us by doing three puppy marker lessons at 12 weeks old. Now that he’s a little bit older we have resumed the rest of his on and off leash obedience training.

Mighty is a quick learner and is doing very well. Once the “safety” of the obedience foundation is complete he will also be working on some protection training. Stay tuned to track Mighty’s progress!

𝙵𝚛𝚎𝚢𝚊 ✨
Miss Freya is a super sweet 14 week old golden retriever puppy. She loves to play and have fun, but her parents want her to work on not jumping up/accidentally scratching her young human siblings. She is doing a two week board & train where we will start her puppy marker training. After that, she will go back home with her family — we will finish her on & off leash obedience lessons when she gets a little older.

As you can see, she’s having a great time making some new friends and learning a lot along the way 🥳

Ashley is approximately one and a half years old and is working towards her Confirmation Championship.

Here Ashley is practicing “stacking” which is the posing of a dog in a standing position for the judge’s exam. We are using the place board to mimic the table Ashley will stand on.

Ashley is only doing marker training right now. Once she obtains her title we will continue with her on & off leash obedience 🦮🐕

Our training is fully customized to each client and their individual goals — Ashley is a great example of that ✨

𝕤𝕒𝕪 𝕙𝕚 𝕥𝕠 𝕋𝕦𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕣 👋🏼

Tucker is a 22 week old Boxer who is here with us for board & train. Tucker can be a sweet boy but he can also be wild and completely out of control. In those instances Tucker shows some dominant and/or aggressive tendencies which is concerning at such a young age.

Tucker is like a sour patch kid - one minute he is affectionate and loving and the next he is jumping up biting arms and faces. Tucker’s parents are at their wits end and said things can’t keep going the way they have been. They don’t want to give up on him, but feel they are running out of options.

With the right training, we feel that Tucker has the ability to be an amazing companion. Stay turned to our posts/stories to track his progress.

Checo and Enyo were out and about in Troutman yesterday. They went to the ESC park 🌿 and had some fun before helping with some shopping at 🐾

Checo had done an excellent job during his board & train with us! Time has flown by - he is getting ready to go home today and although he will miss his friends here, he can’t wait to see his dad 😀 Great job, Checo!

Billies Buddies Animal Rescue pulled 4 month old Dixie and her sister from the shelter when kennel runs needed to be opened up immediately. They both were pretty nervous and undersocialized, but have blossomed into such fun pups!

We have been fostering Dixie for the last three weeks — she is the perfect combo of spunky and chill. She loves zoomies outside as much as she loves being curled up on the couch. She is super social, outgoing and is full of personality.

Dixie loves playing with friends and has thrived living with her multiple foster siblings (including a cat 🐱) She enjoys being close to her human during downtime and cuddling in your lap or at your feet.

Dixie is still working on house training but most of the time does a pretty good job alerting you when she needs to go out. At night it takes her a little bit to settle in, but then she sleeps through the night in her crate without any accidents. She has been having a blast doing mini training sessions with our dogs.

Overall, Dixie is the sweetest girl and will be the perfect addition to her forever family.

Lace did such a great job with her On-Leash training!! She has tons of energy and was is so much fun to work with!! I can’t wait to start working on her Off-Leash obedience with her mom in private lessons!!

Coco is staying with us for our On & Off-Leash Obedience Board & Train and doing amazing! She’s a super smart girl but very easily distracted. She learned her obedience very quickly but struggled with even the smallest distractions at first. She’s been working very hard to get past this and I couldn’t be more proud of her progress, I can’t wait for her family to see how well she’s doing!
