Please help us wish one of our staff members, Brooke, good luck on her first day as a student in the veterinary technician program at Macomb Community College! Brooke plans to continue to work with us while in school, so luckily you'll still be able to see her around the clinic when you come in 😊
Congratulations, Brooke! We know you'll do great!

Attention to any of our clients who travel outside of the US (specifically, to Canada) with their dogs! The requirements for re-entry into the USA with your dog are changing as of August 1! You will now be required to present a health certificate (NOT just a rabies certificate) from a USDA accredited veterinarian prior to coming back into the country.

What this means for you: if you travel to Canada (or any other country) with your dog, please reach out to our office ASAP. Dr. Bagwell and Dr. Reinhold can counsel you on the requirements for the health certificate, and what we need to do to make sure your pet won't have any issues crossing the border.

It can take 28 days or more for the health certificate to become valid, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us sooner rather than later if you have any international travel planned!

Please be patient with our staff as we navigate the new requirements - this is a CDC procedural change and requirement that is new to all of us, and we will do our best to help facilitate the paperwork as efficiently as we can!

With summer starting, that means fireworks season! πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡ While they can be fun displays for us, the loud noises often cause stress and anxiety for our furry friends ☹️ if your dog gets anxious with noises from either storms or fireworks, please reach out to us before the holiday! We have a variety of options we can discuss to help you and your pet get through the holiday weekend with less stress 😊 As a heads up, the fireworks at Red Run in Royal Oak are scheduled for Thursday, for anyone who lives in the area!

We also wanted to let everyone know that our office will be closed for the fourth of July weekend (July 4, 5, 6 and 7). Please call us early next week if you think your pet may need to be seen, or need any medication refills, so we can be sure to get you taken care of before we close.

We hope everyone and their pets have a safe and sunny holiday next week!

We have made the difficult decision to close our office on Saturdays, beginning in July. It is our hope that this change will allow our hardworking staff more time to recharge each week. We understand that this change may make it more difficult for some clients to make it into the office, but we will do our best to be as accomodating as we can during our open hours on Monday-Friday, which are not changing. This will include adding in additional appointments on both Mondays and Fridays, so that Dr. Bagwell and Dr. Reinhold can see any pets with more urgent medical concerns that may need to be addressed prior to or immediately following the weekends. We appreciate your understanding during this time of transition, and we do still have appointments available on Saturdays in June for those who wish to take advantage of them.

With springtime and Easter coming up this weekend, Brooke wanted us to remind everyone that lilies are extremely toxic to cats! If you have cats, we strongly recommend not bringing any bouquets or plants with lilies into your household at all - even just licking the pollen or ingesting part of a leaf is enough to cause kidney failure, and even death for a cat. If you suspect your cat may have been exposed to lilies, call us or one of the local emergency hospitals ASAP, as rapid treatment is needed to prevent kidney injuries from occurring.

In addition, we wanted to announce that our office will be closed this Saturday, March 30. Our normal hours will resume on Monday April 1. We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday with their families 😊🐰

Both Dr. Bagwell and Dr. Reinhold will be out of the office beginning this Saturday, January 13th, through Wednesday January 17th, to attend VMX, the world's largest annual veterinary conference and continuing education event. While they are busy learning and keeping up on the newest and best medicine to help your pets, our staff will still be in the office to schedule appointments, fill medication refills, and can perform technician appointments that do not require a doctor to be present.
If you think your pet may need to be seen or something may be off, please call our office ASAP so we can get them evaluated before the doctors leave. Our normal doctor hours will resume on Thursday, January 18th. During our absence, our staff will be able to direct you to other local clinics who will be able to help in case of an emergency that cannot wait until Dr. Bagwell and Dr. Reinhold return.

Happy Halloween! Our office will be closed tomorrow afternoon, 10/31, after 3:30pm so that our staff can celebrate the holiday with their families. We'd love to see the best costume ideas you've had for your pets in the comments! Dr. Bagwell and her dog, Stella, were Wilma Flintstone and Dino a few years ago πŸŽƒ

As we approach the holiday weekend, we wanted to let everyone know that our office will be closed Monday, September 4th for Labor Day. If you think your pet may have a medical issue that needs to be addressed before the holiday, please give us a call TODAY, as our appointment availability on Friday of this week will be extremely limited, and we remained closed on Saturdays at this time. We hope everyone stays safe and cool this weekend as temperatures will be in the 90s! β˜€οΈ

We are happy to announce that Dr. Reinhold and her husband Kyle welcomed a new baby boy, Benjamin, into their family this week! Both mom and baby are healthy, home from the hospital and doing well 😊
Dr. Reinhold will be on maternity leave until the fall, and Dr. Bagwell will be our only doctor at the clinic during this time. Please be mindful that our wait time for routine vaccine and wellness visits may be slightly longer during this time, but we will do our best to be accommodating and get more urgent appointments in ASAP as usual. We will continue to be closed on Saturdays through the end of Dr. Reinhold's maternity leave.
Thank you for your understanding and we will pass along everyone's well wishes to Dr. Reinhold and her new family of four ❀️

Happy Fourth of July weekend! Barnum wanted to drop by with a friendly reminder that our clinic will now be closed on Saturdays through at least the end of the summer. We will also be closed for the holiday on Tuesday, July 4th next week.
If you think your pet may need anxiety medication for the upcoming fireworks, please call our clinic today or tomorrow so we can have them ready for you as quickly as possible ☺️ we expect to be very busy on both Monday July 3rd and Wednesday July 5th due to the holiday closures, so please be patient with us when calling for medication refills and pickups next week.
We hope everyone is staying safe with all of the smoke outside and the weather forecast clears so everyone can enjoy a fun holiday weekend! We'd love to see pictures of your pets in their summer outfits below!

We have a few changes to our schedule coming up in the next few weeks that we would like to announce so that our clients can plan ahead for the coming summer holidays!
Our office will be closed on Monday May 29th for Memorial day, as well as on Tuesday July 4th. In addition to these holiday closures, due to staffing changes, our office will be closed on Saturdays starting July 1 through at least Labor Day. Our Monday through Friday hours will stay the same.

We will update as to when we will be reopening on Saturdays as we get closer to the end of the summer.
We thank you for your understanding and still have lots of availability for Saturday appointments between now and Saturday June 24th for anyone who prefers a weekend appointment 😊

With Easter coming up, we wanted to remind everyone that Lilies are EXTREMELY toxic to our feline friends! We recommend that you keep lilies out of your house entirely if you have any cats in the home, as even just ingesting the pollen can cause kidney failure and death ☹️ if you suspect your cat may have been exposed to, or possibly ingested, any part of the lily plant, please give our clinic or one of the local veterinary emergency services a call right away, as the sooner medical treatment is initiated, the better.

01/10/2023

Both Dr. Reinhold and Dr. Bagwell will be spending time at a national veterinary continuing education conference next week - therefore, we will not have a doctor in the office next Monday, January 16th or Tuesday, January 17th. The doctors will not be available for phone calls or appointments during this time. Our technicians and receptionists will still be in the office to answer the phone, do medication refills/pick-ups, and for technician appointments (a**l glands, nail trims, blood draws).
If you think your pet may need to be seen for something time sensitive, please give us a call this week so we can get you in before the doctors both go out of town. Our normal appointments will resume Wednesday, January 18th.
We appreciate your understanding! Dr. Reinhold's daughter Brooke will be hard at work next week as well, learning to face off against her dad in the game of chess while mom is at the conference 😊

12/23/2022

Due to the wind, our internet and phones are down, but we are still open! If you have an appointment today, and can't get through when you arrive, you can just head into the lobby. If you don't have an appointment today but need to be seen, please email us at [email protected], or send us a Facebook message and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Stay warm!

Muenster and Swiss are male kittens (about 5 months old) who are looking for homes this holiday season! It might be snowing 🌨️ outside, but Dr. Reinhold pulled this engorged tick off of a dog today! Friendly reminder that even "seasonal" flea and tick prevention means that unless there's snow on the ground, there can be tick activity! Give us a call if you have any questions about the type of flea and tick prevention we recommend for your pets.

Veterinary Technicians are an integral part of any veterinary team, including ours, and we want to take this week to celebrate them and all they do for our pets! As part of this celebration, we will be having a clinic-wide "Spirit Week" starting tomorrow (sports day, luau day, neon day, Disney day, crazy hair day, and crazy sock day) - feel free to join in the fun if you will be in the clinic! And please join us in celebrating our technicians Kenisha, Krista, Maria and Stana, as well as the rest of our staff members, all week long πŸŽ‰

Many of you have contacted us with concerns about the viral disease from up north being talked about in the news for the last few days. Right now, we don't have much information to share about it, as testing is still on going. What we do know is that early testing at MSU indicates at least some of these dogs had Parvo, a very contagious gastrointestinal disease that mainly affects puppies and younger dogs. Luckily, the vaccine for parvo is very effective, and included in our core DA2PP vaccine we recommend for all patients.

At this time, until we have more information, our best recommendation is to ensure your dog is up to date on their vaccinations, and limit any contact they may have with dogs who may not be vaccinated. This is especially important for puppies, who are at a higher risk of severe illness from Parvo infection.

We will share more information as it is released from the State of Michigan. Until that time, feel free to contact our office with any questions you may have, although we unfortunately may not have any more information to share.
