A new cat showed up on campus a little over two weeks ago, were thinking someone dumped it (of course) or the possibility it's someone's lost cat. We got him today so he will be going on a 7 day stray hold.

😸Sage (Tabby) is still up for adoption! She is still shy but has enjoyed having other feline friends around. 😸
This also helps her come out of her shell as well! Her favorite thing to eat is wet cat food! She has enjoyed spending time with her campus cat friend Creamsicle (who is already adopted as soon as we get his super smart brother). 😸She enjoys pets and will start to purr. She also loves looking out the window. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines. 😸

If interested please message us with your email so we can send you a copy of the adoption agreement.

Creamsicle!

He will be up for adoption soon. Right now he is getting situated as a indoor cat so he is still scared and timid (understandable). He is a very sweet cat and has let me pet him even after being trapped a second time. It will take him some time to get use to indoor life but he will be ready for adoption by January 12th. He is neutered and will get updated on his vaccines soon.

If you're interested in adopting Creamsicle, please send us a message!

An update on the campus cats!!

For all the students, faculty, staff, and people within the community that support us!

Over Christmas break we have been working with a rescue to relocate the cats on campus that we have done TNR on. We are still working on this project and will be into the spring semester.

With that said, there is only ONE drop trap on campus. It has our information on it. There should not be any other traps on campus besides ours. Please leave our drop trap be, if you see any other traps on campus please take a picture, set them off, and contact us immediately.

we have currently relocated 4 campus cats plus 1 new cat that showed up on campus and have 2 campus cats up for adoption. ( 7 cats in total)

The cats are listed below
Tigger (alpha male)
Mamma Spoon
Peanut
Garlfield
Creamsicle ( up for adoption soon)
Sage (up for adoption)
Kort (New cat)

If you're interested in adopting a campus cat that is up for adoption please send up a message.

Campus Cat up for Adoption!!

Meet Sage! (Formally known as New kid)

Sage appeared on campus sometime at the end of September/beginning of October. She is roughly around 6-9 months old and there is a chance she could be a sibling of Sylvester (adopted campus cat).

She has enjoyed getting pets and starts to pur immediately. She is still adjusting to indoor life due to coming indoors just recently. She is very curious about everything as well.

She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations!

If you're interested in adopting Sage, please message us with an email and we can send over the adoption contract and set up a time for you to meet her!

***REMEMBERING THE CATS***
Thousands of cats were dispatched to the trenches during WW1 to keep rodent numbers down and act as early warning detectors for mustard gas. So many gave great comfort to the troops as companions and mascots. How many cats survived we will never know?
Paws At The Ready -

The cats of World War One had significant role in all the campaigns, we must honour their bravery too.
Give thought to all the kitties
who served in World War One.
A battalion of the finest
who never fired a gun.

What was their role?

Whether hunting rodents out at sea,
or loyal friends to men,
these many cats had vital roles,
time and time again.
The food was saved.

A common sight in trenches deep,
dispatching mice and rats,
the soldiers’ had a special bond
with many of these cats.
Many were treasured mascots.

Five hundred thousand cats were sent
to serve in the Great War.
Some detected mustard gas,
whilst others were off shore.

Some of the feline heroes -

Togo was the Dreadnought’s cat,
The Swan had their lad Ching.
Pincher was the Vinex’s mog,
it was luck they hoped they’d bring.
‘Martinpuich’ was aptly named,
by The 9th battalion chaps.
Pitouchi was the orphaned kit,
who’d survived on army scraps.

Spark Plug, Tabby and many more
were companions to the troops.
The feline unsung heroes,
those cats who became recruits.

We’ll never truly realise
just what these cats went through.
So spare a thought and give some thanks
for what they did for you!
Lest We Forget!

Update on the campus cat! He is doing great and his leg is healing! He is slowly gaining his confidence around people and showing his silly personality. The goal is to hopefully get him to his adopter by Sunday if he continues to improve!

Well, we had an adventure last night. We had a new cat show up at one of our colonies (over the weekend) and it was limping. Hoping it was just a sprain and it would heal in a couple days we kept an eye on it. Well last night it was still limping and trying to put no pressure at all on it so we made the decision to go ahead and trap it. Thanks to the Humane society of Pike County the vet costs will be covered. If you feel the need to donate please donate straight to them as a huge thank you!

It is a boy and his name is slyvester. One of our other volunteers said there is a possibly it's a child of one our male cats we hadn't done TNR yet due to a female that started to show up near where he is at. Thankfully we were able to get this little one and get him help. He will not be released but will be adopted out (I do have an adopter lined up). He is very sweet and has yet to fight, bite, or even hiss at anyone. He is super scared which is understandable.

This is what can happen when you have a TNR program set in place. It keeps track of any possible new cats, kittens, or dumped cats. It gets them vet care as well that way there is a less chance of spreading diseases and less chance of female cats getting pregnant. It also takes the ones that are like slyvester and gets them adopted out instead of being released like a non-socialized feral cat.

It's awesome seeing a University supporting TNR and implementing it into their vet program.

**SENIOR GOES INTO ASSISTED LIVING. PLEASE READ and HELP IF YOU CAN**

A dear widow has gone into assisted living. A family member has found homes for the 7-9 dogs which she and her husband had rescued throughout the years. HOWEVER, a 10-year-old cat, STRICTLY INDOOR, and a 2/3-month-old kitty (photo) don't yet have a home/s.
Family member will pay to have kitty fixed AND rabies vaccination and lots of "goodies" to go with him/her.

PLEASE, PLEASE! If you can love one or both of these felines, message the HSPC here in the background. Serious inquiries only.
This is the fear of all older people .... that our beloved pets will outlive us or we can no longer care for them. The lady loves these babies and is very concerned. XO

THANK YOU for reading, and perhaps sharing, these words.
