Maverick is one happy boy!! He sees Dr. Jo for knee pain. He still has some lameness and can’t go on as long of walks as he used to, but overall he’s more comfortable. Setting appropriate expectations is paramount to seeing the benefits of alternative medicine. Not all patients will be symptom free after treatment, but most will feel better and many will have lesser symptoms.

How do you navigate work life balance?

Luckily I can determine my own working hours, therefore, if I need a mental health break or to leave early for a meeting or appointment, I give myself the flexibility. I schedule exercise and self care activities just like I would an appointment with a patient. I make my health a priority, just like I prioritize my patient's health. I learned long ago, you cannot pour from an empty cup! So I make sure to take care of myself first so I can take care of others!

Zaboomafoo (Zaboo) is a beautiful male kitty that came to see Dr. Jo for back pain. He is getting better after his first acupuncture treatment! He’s a little too sore still to get a chiropractic adjustment. But we are working on it. Zaboo wasn’t a fan of having his picture taken at the clinic, so mom sent us a good one of him at home!! What a cutie!

As a runner, this video piqued my interest while I was scrolling on YouTube. I admire Dr. Attia and his take on health and healthcare so I was even more interested because it was him. As I was watching though, I started thinking about my patients. How many of the patients I have adjusted using VMM (veterinary chiropractic) had restrictions in their hips and knees? Honestly, most do! In one or both joints. Meaning their alignment is off causing uneven wear in the joint. Plus, a full range of motion is needed for the health of joint cartilage (chondrocytes as per the video). VMM is so helpful in keeping your dog and cat’s joints healthy! Hey guys! Carl here from my favorite place in the summer. My pool!!!! It’s hot out there so I wanted to share a few of my Summer Safety Tips: 1. Black top is hot! Make sure your parents check the concrete and black top before they take you for a walk. If they can’t touch it for more than a few seconds without it being too hot for them, it’s too hot for you! Stick to the grass! 2. Where are my short faced friends? Hopefully inside in the air conditioning!! Boxers, bulldogs, pitties; you all over heat real fast! So make sure you only go out for short periods of time. 3. Have plenty of water! To swim in and more importantly to drink! You can get dehydrated really fast when you pant in the sun. So drink plenty of H2O my friends! 4. Keep the walks at dawn and dusk. It’s too dang hot in the middle of the day to walk. Go early in the morning and later in the evening! 5. My mom said I have to tell you that if you think you are too hot and having signs of heat stroke to go the MedVet or Care Center immediately. It’s nothing to mess around with! Ok, I’m back to my pool now!! Love, Carl 🐾

Taylor can hardly contain herself!! We got a new shipment in from @rawdogchews and she’s sooooo excited!!! We refilled our supply of Punkin’Puffs made with beef collagen. And we now have 6” and 12” beef tracheas! These are great quick chews for our mighty choppers or they last a bit longer for those with delicate teefers. Dr. Jo stuffs her dog’s with peanut butter and popcorn!! Who’s excited now!!! Make sure to pick some up for your pup just in time for Christmas!!
