We would like to wish all of our clients and patients a very Happy Holiday! During this holiday season there will be some holiday hour changes.

Natural Healing Pet Care will be closing early on December 24th at 1:00pm and will reopen on Monday December 30th.

We will also be closing early on December 31st (2pm) and will return to the office on Thursday, January 2nd, at 8am.

There have been some recent changes for international travel with pets. The new rules went into effect August 1, 2024, and affect dogs traveling from Canada into the United states. As of now, Canadian rules remain the same, but we do recommend double checking if you are planning to travel, as the rules are currently under review.

One of the new requirements states that dogs must have a microchip. We, at Natural Healing Pet Care, are not currently placing microchips. Many conventional veterinarians do provide this service. Alternatively, Pet Supplies Plus has a veterinarian who visits the stores in rotation and can place ISO compliant microchips. See each location's schedule for availability.

Meet Holly. She is a 13 1/2 year old Pit/ Golden/Rott mix. She came to Natural Healing over 2 years ago to see if we could help her with autoimmune polyarthropathy after a vaccine was given. She had been on steroids for 10 months prior to coming and had switched to Rimadyl due to extreme muscle wasting from the steroids. With the Rimadyl she was able to walk up 2 steps and walk 3 blocks but without the Rimadyl she was unable to walk and had to be carried everywhere.
Upon her initial visit, we started her on acupuncture based on her traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and added in laser treatments. She came once weekly, noticing improvement after the 2nd visit. Over time, we decreased the Rimadyl and spread out her treatments. She has been off the Rimadyl for over 1 year and is very active. We love seeing her at her monthly acupuncture / laser sessions. Way to go Holly!!!

Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

A highly concentrated blood sample that contains isolated cells (platelets) and the fluid portion of the blood (plasma).

PRP can help regenerate and heal tissues by recruiting cells to an area of injury to clean dead and injured cells. Additionally, it releases proteins called “Growth Factors” which are responsible for tissue regeneration.

PRP can be beneficial for patients with:
Osteoarthritis
Acute and Chronic Soft Tissue Injuries
Tendon Injuries
Ligament Injuries

The hot temperatures we are experiencing can be hazardous and even deadly to pets. Here are just a few safety reminders about how to protect pets in hot weather.
- Never leave pets in a parked vehicle
- Limit exercise on hot days
- Provide ample shade and water
- Keep your pet indoors when possible
Remember to also feel the pavement. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for your pet's paws as well.
