Hands down, literally the BEST doggie costume we have seen in a long time. Saffron is a “teacup” yorkie. Get it? Get IT?! 🥹😭😂 Hats off to Saffron’s mama for A) stopping in and sharing this amazingness with us and B) for the shear craftmanship involved! #yorkie #trumbullct #cutedog #howloween2023
Scout says “HAPPY FRIYAY!” 🎉
Bringing high value treats for your furry friend helps make grooming a lot more fun (and yummy)!
Not to be dramatic- but we’ve had a very mild winter folks.
This means ticks and fleas will most likely be prolific this year, we’ve had more than our fair share of these creepy crawlies that have been hand picked off clients during their groom in the past few weeks. Tick borne illness is no picnic for your furry friends-
If you ran out, give Trumbull Animal Hospital a call and replenish your preventatives!
*Actual footage of a tick that was found during a groom recently. We were able to remove it intact, you can even see the mouth parts where it latches onto the skin to feed. Yuck! Add this to one more good reason to brush your hairy dogs frequently!
Please join us in wishing a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our beloved baby groomer Nikki. Her favorite thing is adding a 🌈 splash 🌈 of color to your pups, so we scheduled this lovely girl to have a rainbow tail on her special day recently.
Check out the paper towel throne for pickle’s tush so she could sit in luxury while Nikki worked on her. It’s safe to say she was comfortable, she kept falling asleep on the table 🤫😅
Anxious and shy dogs are nothing new for us. Cody came in for his first bath today and we recognized that getting his nails trimmed was a huge trigger. After some desensitization training to having his feet touched, we realized very quickly that we created a monster. Cody now waves for cookies. 😂 So no, we may not have been able to trim this sweet man’s nails today, but earning his trust was totally worth it. We hope to see you soon sir, thank you for the laughs today! We’ll work on trimming your nails again next time.
Gutted, crushed, heartbroken. We lost our beautiful Martha aka “Matha Stinky Pants” today. We love you very much honey.
Fun fact: when we schedule your pup for a haircut, (especially their first and second appointments), we strive to schedule them with a “haircut buddy”.
A first time puppy appointment takes anywhere from 2-3 hours on average. This is why! Frequent breaks to decompress, slow introduction to sights, sounds and smells associated with being groomed and having a well socialized dog to take their mind off of things are very important for building a lifetime relationship!
Bringing your puppies favorite toy and some high value treats also go a long way towards building a positive association with something that could be very scary!
This clip is also an excellent example of what healthy playtime looks like between two dogs. There is lots of role reversal where they take turns chasing, lying down, shaking and big round floppy tail wags. An excellent start to having a well rounded, happy, healthy socialized and groomed dog!
💕
Happy Mother’s Day to all you Fur-moms!
