Our most recent visit to our monthly visit to the Veteran' home. So wish I could get pics of the interactions with the vets and animals. Thank you volunteers Francis and Carlyn who made this trip possible. "Maggie" the staff who along with two others, wheeled about 10 veterans from the new residences across the huge parking lot at relatively high speeds to get as many folks out to see the donkeys as was possible!!! They were awesome!!! Shown in pics is volunteer Susie Martinez who drives from Las Cruces to volunteer at the center. The Staff at the home and their volunteers are truly awesome and work very hard to make our visits possible. Tammy the Assistant Activities director has been very helpful, and bizzy as she is always finds time to return calls and facilitate our visits.

Update on Fundraiser hosted at Rubi's Music and Smoothie lounge featuring Blues and Bluegrass musician ROY!

Roy entertained approximately 25 folks with a wonderful presentation of old time Blues/bluegrass. His acoustic performance included many blues originals all telling stories of human nature and foibles :) His venue was enhanced by the personal stories he would share between songs, about the songs origins, the original songwriters, the places he has played, and even his fabulous 4 string guitar had its story. The presentation was professional and charming with Roy holding the audiences attention thoroughly throughout the event.

Donkey Magic Farm appreciates Roy's contribution as all funds gathered went to the EARS 501c3 (Equine Allies Rescue and Sanctuary) hosted at Donkey Magic Farm.

Many thanks to Shennoah Bree and 420 Broadway Event Space hosting Rubi's Music and Smoothie Lounge. The smoothies were delicious.

Many many thanks to all the community members who attended the concert for their generous donations.

and at the end of the evening a gift from Jeff Dukatt- Dukatt '71 who presented me with a dynamite Donkey Magic Farm T-shirt. Look for those in the future.... another project! What am I thinking!

Well-Sad to inform Zeus' fan club he will be unable to attend Roy's concert due to the weather AND the fact that-Rascal and troublemaker BURRITO took it upon himself to pull the tail light off the trailer and hide it in the far corner of the pen! I found it after 30 minutes of searching finding the light first, and then the rubber ring that holds it in place buried in the sand as if purposefully. Burrito has shown NO REMORSE and tried to place the blame on JASPER! Who though perfectly capable of such an act, in this case was not culpable.

Burrito keeps us bizzy, Undoing the clasps on the gates etc. He I am sure is the one responsible for the recent escape of all the critters.

YAY!!! We have successfully applied for and now have received our Final Determination Letter from the IRS giving us our 501c3 Non-Profit Status. The official name of the non-profit is "Equine Allies Rescue and Sanctuary" DBA (Doing business as) "EARS" The program is located at Donkey Magic Farm and we will continue to operate for fundraising purposes as "Donkey Magic Farm" to raise monies to support the non-profit. Checks and other contributions will be made out to EARS as they support the non-profit program exclusively.

If anyone has questions re: Our business structure feel free to ask :)

Burrito's EARS represent our commitment to providing Rescue and Sanctuary to those Smaller Equines in our community who need care that could no longer be provided in their former environments.

Our EARS motto is a reference to Listening to our animal allies and to each other as humans.

"EARS promotes empathy and connection between humans and equines by facilitating mutual inter-species interactions for the benefit of our community"

Next Step: We currently have a dedicated Bank Account for our transactions under my personal name. With our new determination letter we will be setting up a non-profit account under the name EARS. I will keep you posted when that dedicated account becomes viable. Thanks everyone for all your support in pulling all the necessary pieces together.

Zeus has heard about Roy's fundraiser this Saturday 5pm-6:30pm at 420 Broadway Event Space.....He has a bizzy schedule....micro-managing the donkeys and mule, He is going crazy wanting me to bring him on down!!!! Would hate to have him mad at me ;0 What do you folks out there think? As we say here at Donkey Magic Bray or Neigh?

Donkey Magic Farm appreciates all of our fundraiser's participants, 56 folks all told!

The party was a complete success and we raised enough money to cover all filing fees etc. for the 501c3 and have banked enough funds to cover a months ($500.00) feed as well :)

The music was wonderful and everyone had a splendid time! The herd enjoys the parties as well....Equines are very fond of music and Burrito was leaning so hard on his fence panel thought he was gonna break out ;0

If you attended the party please feel free to post pics and say a few words sharing your thoughts regarding our first full fledged, music with a stage event!

David Garcia took this pic on our walk home from visiting the VA. One of my favorite aspects of our walks is talking to friends and passers-by when they stop everything to smile and admire the boys :)
