We got news back for ladybug! Her E. Cuniculi blood test came back negative at 0.000. That basically indicates she is negative and has had NO exposure to it.
She is the first Avalon rabbit to hit the quadruple 0! 😍🫶 Ladybug is wobbly and has been since she was dumped outside and caught and found by MJ Alcoke on a rescue mission.
We tested her for E. Cuniculi because it it so common in rabbits and can cause central nervous system degradation and symptoms such as head tilt, wobbliness, seizures, etc when left unchecked.
Since she is negative that means that she was likely the victim of some sort of trauma like our permanent wobbly resident, Hannah. She could have been hit by a car, attacked, pounced on, kicked.
Who knows? It’s so sad, but she is handling it so well.
Ladybug will actually be fully adoptable since she is able to move so well even with her wobbliness. Who wants to medical foster this special girl? She even uses her litter box before she is spayed… a true rockstar✨✨✨✨

Today it was discovered that Lumiere has a large firm mass effect in his rectum. It is causing him pain and making it harder to go potty.
We sent off samples for the pathologist to review so we can better determine what they are. Today, he seemed to feel a bit better. He ate a lot of critical care and took pride in his wonderful marshmallow appearance. We love you, buddy 😔❤️
Lumiere spent the first 5 years of his life in a wire cage in someone’s yard as a breeder bunny. He’s spent his last 4 with us. Now he is 9.

For this evening, this is Mr. Dandelion.
He was a sweet bun who was dumped and had a hard life before coming to Avalon. Unfortunately his life got worse when I gave him a horrible but also kind of cute haircut. But hey, he can see now! LOL!
Dandelion is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to find love. He requests a nice lady bun to keep him company in the coming New Year.

Busy day. We helped Onalaska Farm Sanctuary kittens they recently pulled from a nasty hoarding situation. I’ve been calling this Princess “Touchy touchy” because she can’t see very well because of kitty URIs and touches everything in front of her.😭💕
Our first night with our new baby, “Flip” who was dumped only several blocks away from the rescue with a head tilt and taken in by a wonderful family who saved his life that cold winter night.
These sweet new ladies would love a foster home of their own. As new intakes, they just came in from a person who threatened to kill them when they no longer were of use for 4H.

A super fun way to support our Avalon residents is to spoil them with treats! We love the natural treats from oxbow. It’s just hay and sometimes flowers and herbs, but they act like it’s the coolest thing ever!
Frosty
Here is our new boy, Frosty. Frosty was found on the side of the road yesterday after being hit by a car. Apparently an individual is known to breed and release rabbits into a Washington neighborhood. This is the second HBC rabbit I’ve taken from this neighborhood.
