I am so proud of Fiato and Lisa! Fiato was a nervous, unconfident, inconsistent horse that would frequently bolt with his owner. With a bit of patience and the right recipe he has become a relaxed and consistent partner that knows his job and takes care of his mom!

Oro came to Painted Quail at the beginning of September in need of lots of tlc. This 4 year old ottb is so sweet and has put on lots of weight and his coat is getting back to it’s beautiful shine! He’s starting to get a little muscle and is proving to be very smart! He’s been slowly getting back into work and I can’t wait to see how he progresses!

Horses are such amazing animals it’s no wonder they carry such a big piece of our hearts. Rosie captured many of our hearts. She was sassy and opinionated. She was also sweet, athletic, and always willing to try her hardest. This morning Rosie tragically broke her pastern while being lunged. With how full of life and energy she is we knew that it wouldn’t be fair to her to attempt surgery. I will miss her everyday. Her enthusiastic greeting whether I had food or not, following me around the ring during Jaden’s lessons, and how smart and willing she was.

Rest In Peace sweet girl.

The horses are all settled in at The beautiful Raven Ranch! Maui and Princess agree that they are already feeling at home and that their new digs are pretty sweet!

It has been a challenging 6 months with princess. She’s had some hard behavior patterns to work out but yesterday we took her to her first show. Princess surpassed any expectation we had for her and went around like a hunter! Miranda went around the 2’3 jumpers beautifully! I just wish I had a photo of the smile on Miranda’s face as she walked out of the ring.

The show was beyond fun and we had a great support group that came up that went above and beyond helping out!

So very excited to welcome Versace to Painted Quail! ‘Maui’ is a lovely 13 year old Hanoverian gelding that has come to us from the Bay Area for the next year. Florie is so lucky to continue her learning on such a comfortable, kind, talented guy. I can’t wait to see what this pair will do!

Had so much fun working a grid with this pair today! This absolutely lovely appendix mare is a barrel horse but has really taken to and loves jumping! Her kid is a great student and a hard worker and they make a fabulous team!

So proud of this pair! Just a few months ago Princess took to bucking everyone off (yes, even me) and after some...behavior modification and a diet change she has become a willing and safe partner for her owner.

Rock on Riley is a 15 year young, 16.0h, chromed out, saintly ottb gelding looking for his person.

Riley has just about done it all from racing to pony club and trail riding. He has some experience at novice level eventing, has done a training level dressage test and this past weekend he was champion in the crossrail division at a local show. He is simple to ride and can adjust to what you ask. Want a fiery jumper? He’ll do it. Walk trot horse? Happy to do that too! He has a lovely jump and has done 1.10m at home.

He is as simple as they come(and cute) best groundmanners, clips, ties, loads, and stands for the farrier. He can get off the trailer and go right into the show ring.

Where to start?! The Freedom Run horse show was just perfect! We had a lot of firsts: Kimberlee O'cain competed in her first show in over 2 years and her first show since being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre. Jaden Whitney had her first horse show as did her ex-pacer Rosie. Heather Wicker had her first show on Denali. Anne Lize Gielis had her first experience in the Hunters! Florie showed for her first time ever! And Eli did his first show ever!

Jaden rode her fabulous standardbred who has only been off the track for a year (after 90 races) to RESERVE CHAMPION in the 2’ jumpers.

Heather rode her mare was CHAMPION in the puddle jumpers on her mare Denali! We have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this mare the last 6 months and it really paid off!

Florie went over her first jump just a couple of months ago after riding gymkhana most of her life and her hard work learning a whole different way to ride earned her CHAMPION in the crossrail division on Riley!

Mini put in some killer rounds in the level 3’s with Kimberlee as well as the open hunters with her owner, Anne. This is after the versatile mare did her first 4th level dressage test the previous weekend!

Last but not least Rufio was CHAMPION in the level 2 jumpers! This unicorn took amazing care of his mom and bailed her out a few times and went with whatever angles and tight turns she asked him to do! This is after taking very good care of his favorite little boy in the leadline class!

Huge thank you to everyone that came and helped, watched, and cheered on our team! I would call Panted Quail Equestrians first show together a success!!

I honestly don’t know how to thank Jen Baltrus enough for putting on such a well run and fun horse show! Without her a lot of us wouldn’t be showing.

2005 16h thoroughbred gelding looking for his person. Riley is a total gentleman and uncomplicated to ride. He has done some novice level eventing, pony club, is working on training level dressage with an amateur, and is fabulous on the trail.

These two keep getting better and better! 🦄

Rufio helped this talented dressage rider navigate some jumps today! It was Kate Frey's first ride on this athletic jumper and she rode him great and had a blast!
