It's been a few weeks since the Tucson Fall Classic Horse Shows wrapped up and I've had some time to think about why these are some of the most valuable shows on our Arizona calendar.
The thing that stands out the most is how Tucson is the perfect place for 'FIRSTS'.
Do you have a young horse ready to take their first 'trip to town'? Tucson is perfect. They have turnouts so your younster can get out, play and watch the activities with friends from a distance. There is tons of space to school quietly in a back corner or go on a trail ride, and if they're ready, there are opportunities to school in the ring too.
Developing young horses into show horses takes special requirements to do really well in a way that doesn't over stress the horse and Tucson provides all of them!
Do you have clients ready to take their first step into the rated show ring or maybe travel out of town for the first time? Tucson is perfect for that too!
The show grounds are a friendly size and not overwhelming for someone stepping up from the schooling shows. There are lots of appropriate class options all week and almost daily parties and fun events. SO many chances just to enjoy their new adventure and meet fellow horse lovers.
Taking that first step into the rated ring or doing an 'away' show is nerve wracking. Tucson makes it easy and friendly!
Maybe you're ambitious and have a very promising young jumper ready to start up the levels? Tucson is a great first outing in a money class with more pressure. They offer the height, money and excellent course designers without the stress of a bigger venue.
This years 1.30m Grand Prixs saw a great many 'firsts'. It was the first time several of the horses stepped up to 1.30 in the show ring. It was also the first time several of the riders stepped into a Grand Prix.
Having the opportunity to start moving up with less pressure is priceless!
These types of shows are invaluable for developing horse and rider, from the beginner at their first rated show to a developing Grand Prix horse needing their first important experiences. These shows pave the way for bigger goals to be achieved in a way that encourages owners and horses.
Thank you Jen Baltrus for all the time, effort and passion you have put into these shows! We'll see you next year!
