The Hopkins Belize Humane Society was very fortunate to have Caribbean Property Consultants (CPC) let us use the land we were on in Hopkins for 14 years completely rent free. As an organization, we eventually knew that one day we would need to leave that very valuable commercial property. CPC very generously donated one of the clinic buildings, also. Without the generosity of CPC and our close partnership with Hamanasi Resort in the early years, we likely world not be the organization we are today.
The humane society has moved the clinic buildings to a donated piece of property in Hope Creek along the Hummingbird Highway, and plan to resume normal operations as soon as we are able. The clinic buildings have been moved, but we still have to get all utilities hooked up, purchase a vehicle, reinstall our security system, make repairs to the buildings, put all the equipment back into the buildings, purchase medical supplies, etc.
I know that change is hard, but as an organization, we are doing our best to get back to normal operations as soon as possible. ๏ฟผ
Belize and Stann Creek have been so fortunate to have had HBHS performing free spays/neuters in the Stann Creek area and beyond for 14 years, helping thousands of animals at no cost due to the generosity of our donors, and we plan to continue our free spay/neuter services as soon as possible.
As you may have noticed, we are rebranding the organization as Stann Creek Humane Society to better represent the population we serve.
This move has not been easy or inexpensive. We are grateful to Silk Grass Farms, CPC, Hamanasi, ADS, Hopkins Bay Resort and many, many others who have assisted with funding.
We anticipate needing to raise approximately $25,000 additional funds to get us back to running at regular capacity.
We know there are so very many worthy organizations to donate to for your end of year giving, in and out of Belize. I hope, if HBHS has affected you in the past, youโll consider donating to help the new Stann Creek Humane Society start serving the people and animals of Belize.
PayPal donations are accepted through the Belize Economic & Ecological Development Fund (BEED Fund) at [email protected]. Please make a note that it is for the Stann Creek Humane Society spay/neuter clinic.
If you are old fashion, like me, and would like to send a check, please send a check made out to BEEDFUND to the address 1401 West Sage St., Tucson, AZ, 85704.
Thank you for your consideration, and for past and future support.
Happy Holidays,
