"Lady is wonderful. She’s very attached to Charles and incredibly playful. While she’s a bit picky with her food, we’ve found a combination of wet and dry food that suits her tastes. She eats twice a day, maintains a healthy weight, and is due for her checkup soon. She’s been taking her meds daily. Thank you for our wonderful addition! We are so happy to have as a part of our family!"

Meet Turnip, a sweet and sociable 4-year-old cat who came to HSSA through a transfer from another shelter. She gets along well with other cats, though her feelings about dogs are still a mystery. Turnip loves giving head boops and enjoys chin and neck scratches—and if you’re lucky, she might even let you give her some belly rubs! It’s , and we want to introduce you to a very special lady, the one and only Tilly! 🥰 Learn more about her:

Meet Tilly, a 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier who’s as adventurous as she is affectionate. This playful, athletic, and extroverted pup has a big personality and an even bigger love for soccer! Her impressive skills with her favorite red ball are sure to steal your heart. With medium energy and a goofy, curious nature, Tilly thrives on fun and companionship, especially when it involves her favorite game.
Tilly is as smart as she is charming. She’s food-motivated and eager to please, having already mastered commands like sit, stay, and shake. She even excels at agility training, showing just how versatile and capable she is. Currently, Tilly is being fostered by one of her favorite volunteers while she waits for her loving home.

Here’s what her foster parent had to share:
“Tilly is a perfect houseguest. She’s housetrained, does well on her own during the day, and loves playing with her toys. At night, she’s happiest stretched out on the bed. She walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys her daily outings. She’s sweet, loving, and friendly with everyone she meets, human or canine. Tilly is nondestructive, only chews her own toys, and rarely gets on furniture other than the bed. She loves to cuddle and has been an absolute joy to have around. I can’t believe she hasn’t found her loving home yet!”

🐾 Missing for Nine Years – Home for the Holidays 🏡✨ For nine long years, Sonia was missing, separated from the family who loved her. They searched and hoped, but as time passed, the chances of finding her seemed to fade. Then, just a few weeks ago, something extraordinary happened. Sonia was found through our Trap, Neuter, Return program, which helps manage community cat populations. During her visit to Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic for surgery, the staff scanned her for a microchip. That tiny chip revealed something miraculous: Sonia had a family! The clinic contacted the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, and we took the next steps to bring her home. Thanks to her microchip, we were able to reconnect Sonia with her family. The moment her mom walked into the shelter, Sonia let out a soft meow—it was clear she remembered the people who loved her. ❤️ After nine years, Sonia is finally home—safe, warm, and surrounded by love, just in time for the holidays. ✨ Stories like Sonia’s are possible because of donors like you. 🎅🐾 Santa Paws Came to Town! 🐶✨ Last week, our dogs had an absolute blast picking out their very own stuffie toys!
