I have stopped feeding my dogs any food that has legumes or potato as one of the top 3 ingredients. The eliminates most grain free dog foods, but not all.

I just spoke with Champion Pet Foods, manufacturers of Acana and Orijen. There is lots of information refuting the allegations against them in this lawsuit.

I recently switched dog foods to Acana Meadowlands and recommended it to a number of clients. A friend brought this lawsuit to my attention this morning. I consulted with my vet who feels switching to another brand might be wise. The longer a dog’s nose is, the more effectively it can cool itself. Be aware that all dogs can overheat. Keep them hydrated and cool through the summer!

This is disturbing. Merrick had been unscathed until now with the raw ingredient recall barrage. Too many raw mix dog foods seem to have issues. If you go with a dehydrated or freeze dried diet, make sure the ingredients are pre-cooked until they figure this stuff out.

It seems to me that all these manufactured raw diets have a way to go before they can be considered safe. Recall after recall seems to involve the raw diet foods more than other types of kibble, cooked dehydrated or freeze dried.
