As the month draws to a close, we absolutely cannot forget to introduce the wonderful Kimberlee Ocain. Please give her a huge hello below after reading about her journey and accomplishments!

Kimberlee began riding at the age of 5, and her passion for horses set her on a lifelong journey to learn and work with them. Starting out in hunters, equitation, and jumpers, she found much success through her children’s and junior career.

Deciding to become a professional in 2008, she got a job training and starting Arabians before being offered a position at the prestigious Al-Marah Arabians. Kimberlee was mentored by Dianne Grod and worked with the sport horses. A young stallion she trained achieved 2010 USEF Arabian horse of the year. After working with Arabs, she returned to the hunter jumper world working as a groom. In 2014 she started working for an up-and-coming dressage trainer, and spent 3 years as the assistant trainer learning dressage and natural horsemanship, all while teaching jumping lessons and competing with her own horse.

Kimberlee has a positive teaching style with patience and a drive to help every horse and rider meet their full potential. Kimberlee is a hunter/jumper trainer that also excels in developing young horses, c**t starting, problem horses, natural horsemanship, dressage, and western (reining, team penning).

It's time to meet another fundamental member of our team, Michaela Corbitt! Please give her a warm welcome below after getting to know her a little better here.

Michaela grew up and began riding in the Capital Region of Upstate, New York, where her fascination with horses soon became a life-long labor of love. Predominantly riding under the Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation disciplines, Michaela showed all through her junior years, competing in all three rings along the East Coast. In 2012, she moved to Southern California, where her equine knowledge and passion for riding flourished and expanded beyond just the three ring disciplines into Dressage, Western Riding, Trail, Eventing, and Natural Horsemanship. It was in Los Angeles where she also discovered her passion for restarting and retraining Off The Track Thoroughbreds to find their new careers after they retired from racing, and she volunteered doing just that with Canter USA for several years.

Michaela turned professional in 2016 and shares her love of riding through teachings based in the joy of horses in a non-competitive environment spanning multiple disciplines. Additionally, she teaches to ride the horse, not the saddle, and can provide tools to effectively communicate with your horse through body language and ground work to create wonderful relationships and bonds that last forever.

Michaela moved to Tucson in early 2021, and in addition to her successful professional riding career, she took over as the Manager of Raven Ranch in Spring of 2022. In that role, she looks forward to sharing her knowledge and love for horses with everyone at Raven Ranch.

We need to introduce some of the absolutely amazing people that make Raven Ranch everything it is today... our team! Throughout the month, we'll happily introduce you to some wonderful individuals and give you a little bit of their background and experience. With that being said, please give a warm hello to Casi Majeski!

Casi started riding at the age of 5 in the hunter/jumper discipline and had great success there. It wasn't long before she set her sights on Eventing, opening her eyes to the world of Dressage. In 2018, she earned her USDF Bronze medal on her personal horse, Finesse, a Hanoverian mare she trained from scratch. She went on to earn her USDF Silver Medal in 2019 on both Finesse and client-owned project horse, Pavarotti RA. Casi continues to compete both locally and regionally where she and her clients have countless show championships, high-point, state championships and year-end awards.

Casi teaches both horse and rider from the very basics in all disciplines in a style of variety to develop a well-rounded athlete.

Horses are so much more than just pets for us... they're part of our families and often our best friends. They provide us with companionship, and sometimes their majestic beauty can be hard to put into words. This quote definitely does a great job capturing some of what we feel each day!

If you have a favorite quote about horses, share it with us below!

Internationally recognized riding instructor and creator of the Murdoch Method, Wendy Murdoch, announced LookUp Glasses recently... and they just may be the ultimate rider's aid! These glasses solve the number one issue that has plagued riders for decades... looking down while riding!

Murdoch's "LookUp Glasses" are a simple but extremely effective tool that improves the horse's movement by bringing the rider into balance and keeping their vision forward by blocking your lower field of vision. This inhibits looking down when riding, which can be detrimental for many riders.

The glasses come in a handful of colors and have been highly recommended for any level or discipline, but can be especially useful for beginner lesson programs to help train young riders correctly.

Have you seen or used the LookUp Glasses before, and would you try them? Let us know below!

In case you weren't aware already, one of the primary services we offer here is full-care horse boarding, where we treat your horse as if it were our own and give it lots of extra love!

If you haven't boarded your horse with us before, here's a quick glimpse at some of the options we offer:

⭐️ Barn stall with run: 12' by 12' barn stall with attached run, automatic waterer, above ground feeder, shaved wood bedding, cleaned twice daily

⭐️ Barn stall without run: 12' by 12' barn stall, automatic waterer, above ground feeder, shaved wood bedding, cleaned twice daily

⭐️ Covered outside stall: 12' by 24' pipe stall with shade, automatic waterer, above ground feeder, cleaned once daily

With any of our stalls we always supply feeding, which includes Bermuda grass hay and/or alfalfa, depending on your preference.

Hay is fed twice daily up to 10 lbs. per feeding, and we will feed your bagged supplements at one or both feedings daily if you like as well. We only buy #1 premium locally sourced hay as well to ensure your horse only gets the best.

We do offer some additional services that include Turnout, Pasture, Blanketing, Medication Administration, Hand Walking, and Grooming Services.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to send us a message or email us at your convenience!

"Riders sometimes need to realize that horses need soothing, cuddling and comforting. Sometimes that isn't too bad for people either. They can use that a little bit too." ~ Tom Dorrance
