REVOLUTIONARY DOG ARTHRITIS PAIN MEDICATION ARRIVING BY NOVEMBER!
Librela(tm) is a monoclonal antibody pain relief drug for dogs that has been used in Europe for years to treat arthritis pain in dogs. It's a once-a-month injection, given at the clinic (FDA is nervous about letting owners give it at home because of potentially fatal human reactions should pet owner accidentally inject themselves with it). It has virtually no side effects (other than a little sting at the time of injection or other minor injection reactions), so there are very few contraindications for using it. And, 85% or more of patients in early to moderate stages of arthrtis can discontinue their oral medications within 2 months!
IF YOUR DOG HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ARTHRITIS OR YOU ARE SUSPICIOUS OF ARTHRTIS, PLEASE CALL US TO GET ON THE NOTIFICATION LIST FOR LIBRELA WHEN IT ARRIVES!
** Dogs who have not had radiographs to demonstrate that arthritis is actually present, should do so we can predict efficacy before starting treatment. Remember, there are conditions that mimick arthritis that won't respond to pain medication.

It’s unfortunate that people think it’s ok to abandon a carrier full of kittens at a veterinary clinic. It’s even more unfortunate that the current state of emergency for rehoming pets is so dismal in Tucson. Our shelters and rescues are bursting at the seams and people get to a desperate point. At least now these little ones are safe and we are working hard to get them in to forever homes without them going to the shelter. If you know of anyone wanting a kitten or two please message us. They will be vaccinated, tested for leukemia and we will cover their spays/neuters.

Recommendations for those considering veterinary care for their pet:

• Determine Urgency: Truly emergent, critical pets should seek immediate care and not be delayed. If uncertain about the urgency of your pet's condition, please consult with one of our team members.
• POSTPONE NON-EMERGENT CARE: Forward book wellness appointments. This includes vaccines and yearly blood work, toe nail trims etc.. We are more than happy to schedule at least 2 weeks out.
• Expect extended wait times: During this difficult time, we may experience concerns or issues causing a longer appointment time. Our first and foremost concern is your pet, our team will work hard and be as efficient as possible while maintaining a high standard of care and service.
• HUMAN ILLNESS: If respiratory illness, or if exposure to coronavirus is suspected or confirmed, please have an adult 18 years of age or older bring your pet in for you. A consultation with you will occur by phone. Should a symptomatic or exposed owner need to bring a pet to one of our facilities, we ask that they disclose their condition to ensure our staff is prepared for their arrival.
Again, effective immediately, only essential hospital personnel will be allowed inside Old Pueblo Veterinary Clinics building. Veterinary medical staff will meet clients in the parking lot and bring pets in for care. During this time services may be limited, and some existing appointments may need to be postponed. Hospital personnel will contact clients directly with information regarding any changes.
Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your pet. We are committed to safely providing the best care and service to you and the community. Please contact us with any questions.
Sincerely, OPVC
