Welcome to Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic

Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic opened its doors in the Del Monte Center on 12th Avenue in 1981 by Dr. Roco Mele. Dr. Mele is still in practice on the East Side of Town and his practice now focuses on advanced dental care for pets. Dr. Dan Riley took over the practice in December 1986 and practiced successfully until 2013, when he announced intentions to start

retirement and sold to Dr. Neal as of January 1, 2013. Dr. Neal hopes to continue the tradition of affordable vet care and offering affordable surgical options. Dr. Nealโ€™s passion is in affordable spay/neuter and basic wellness services to all animals and Santa Cruz Vet Clinic is the best place to continue this tradition!

On behalf of Asavet Veterinary Charities and Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic we would like to express our condolences to the family and Veterinary community across the world for the death of Diego Villarroel in Ambato, Ecuador. He was a champion of spay neuter for his country, South America, and indeed the whole world. It was a great opportunity and honor for me and my team to work side by side with a man who dedicated his life to spay and neuter. His death was untimely and a great tragedy for animal welfare.
Rest in Peace Diego. You worked so very hard.
With Love,
Karter B Neal, DVM

FYI- we could get as many as 100 ferals in 2 days and then have to supplement the remaining days in the month with other funding sources. We always appreciate trappers that donate to the cause and when we have a complicated medical case- this is why we ask if trapper can contribute to cover costs.

We love our community and feel lucky to have the support that we have.

Tucson Feral Cat, Trap Neuter Return - TNR Advocates recently made a post that is full of false information. They turned off the ability for us or anyone else to make comments. Santa Cruz receives very little funding for TNR and even less for medical. We are constantly trying to find ways to cover the expenses and we do a lot without receiving compensation. If you know our business owner/vet- you know what she does for the community. We are doing the best with what support we receive. We never have and never will euthanize a patient without consent and we most certainly do not euthanize patients with treatable conditions. I think lack of funding is what would have been a better opportunity to post about. This TNR Advocate group should be offering solutions and perhaps doing fund raising of their own to help the community. Discrediting a clinic that has helped more community cats over the years than any other clinic in Tucson is beyond comprehension. Please, if you have questions or concerns, call the clinic and ask to speak to a manager.
