The VCA Northwest Animal Hospital team had an absolute blast at Boo at the Zoo! 👻🐘

From dressing up in our best animal-inspired (and Harry Potter inspired) costumes to handing out treats and meeting so many fantastic families and their little ghouls and goblins, it was a night to remember!

We loved sharing pet safety tips for Halloween and seeing the excitement in the faces of visitors as they explored the zoo's festive attractions. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hi and join in the fun! 🍬🍫

We had an amazing time at Dogtoberfest, and our furry friends certainly did too! Our dedicated VCA Northwest Animal Hospital staff joined the festivities, spreading the word about our pawsome rehab services and offering free massages to keep those tails wagging! 💆🐾

From playful pups getting pampered to owners learning all about the benefits of pet rehab, it was a day full of smiles, slobbery kisses, and lots of wagging tails!

It is with great excitement that we can finally announce... WE ARE NOW OPEN ON SATURDAYS!!! 🎉

Our new hours will officially begin Saturday, September 14th from 8am to 5:30pm, exclusively at our Ina and Oracle location!
We will be open for Urgent Care as well as a few openings for wellness appointments. Please give us a call in advance to book appointments as we anticipate we will fill up quickly!

Saturday Urgent Care appointments will be seen in order of urgency, so be aware that wait times may vary.

Welcome Dr. Alyssa Rankin to our VCA Northwest Animal Hospital Team! Dr. Alyssa Rankin will be joining us in September 2024.

Alyssa’s path to veterinary medicine was greatly influenced by her master’s degree in public health, which she earned from the University of Arizona in 2021. "My background in public health significantly influenced my decision to become a veterinarian by instilling a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between human and animal health." Through her studies, Alyssa gained valuable insights into zoonotic diseases, health disparities, and the critical importance of preventative care. As a general practitioner, she’s excited to bridge the gap between animal welfare and public health, ensuring healthier lives for animals and humans.

Alyssa is particularly thrilled to join us at VCA Northwest Animal Hospital, where she stated she felt an immediate connection during her clinical rotation with us. "The enthusiasm and support from everyone made me feel at home from day one." The welcoming environment, combined with the expertise of her future colleagues, inspires her to contribute and grow within our dynamic team.

Alyssa advises future veterinary students to stay open to new opportunities and embrace the learning experiences they bring. "Don’t forget to have fun along the way, as your passion for animals should bring you joy every day." She also reminds students to remember why they chose this path—whether it’s a love for animals, a desire to make a difference, or a passion for veterinary science. These motivations, she believes, will guide and inspire them through both the challenges and triumphs of their journey.

Congratulations to our veterinary technician Ella Hardy! 🎉

Ella just passed her Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and received her associates in Veterinary Technology from Pima Medical Institute.

She will be furthering her education and specializing in exotics medicine/zoology and conservation.

Ella has two dogs (named Chili Cheese Dog and Pickles) and one cat (named Detective Ice Cream) that are all rescues. 🐶🐱

She finds bugs and reptiles fun and interesting.

Welcome Dr. Krystyna Nowakowski to the team! 🐶🐾🐱

Dr. Nowakowski joined us in February 2024. She received her bachelors degree at the United States Naval Academy and completed the DVM program at Oregon State University.

Dr. Nowakowski grew up in Buffalo, New York however also spent several years in Hawaii with the Navy. She has two pets, one australian cattle dog by the name of Roo and a quarter horse named Lelo. Some of her special interests outside of work are riding her horse, taking her dog to different breweries and going to the gym!

What does Dr. Nowakowski love most about her job?
"Empowering pet owners with the knowledge and tools to keep their furry family members feeling their best between visits. I also have a soft spot for geriatric pets."

In terms of professional interests and developments, she has a special interest in rehabilitation and pain management.

My name is Monster and I turn 13 years old today! 🐾 I belong to Saia, whom is a veterinary technician with VCA Northwest Animal Hospital!

My owner’s mom got me from a feed store when I was only a few months old!

I got my name because the markings above my eyes look like horns, but also because I was an absolute terror to my housemates.

I am such a cuddle bug! I make my owner hold me while she is cooking, and I get INCREDIBLY jealous if I see another animal getting attention.

Even though my owner doesn’t share her food with me, I will still beg and try to steal off of anyone’s plate that is near.

Despite my name being Monster, I am very loving and sweet to every human that I meet. I will even ask for forehead kisses!
