Birds just want to have fun! Keeping these highly intelligent, active, and socially adapted birds fulfilled in a captive setting is a challenge.

Parrots and other exotic birds are not domesticated animals even when bred in captivity. As the native species of other countries, their physical and behavioral needs remain intact. That means they’re a handful in captivity!

Think about it. In the wild, our birds would be flying many miles a day, foraging for food, socializing with other birds, mating and raising their young.

Keeping those busy beaks, inquiring minds, and active bodies occupied in captivity is a necessity. Birds need a variety of toys to chew and shred and plenty of foraging and enrichment opportunities. No more barren cages please!

Merry Christmas from Kahlua and the crazy family. First picture, he managed to sit still for a tree photo with only minor bribery involved. The second one, well, let's just say our attempt to crown him with a bow was an epic fail. We hope you all have a safe and joyful holiday. Hopefully we’ll have some New Year shenanigans to share in January.

Kahluas first time out in a while and he decides to be a punk about it. Whenever Nyssa tried to get him off her head, he would pull her hair and flip it in her face like a little ball of feathers with an attitude! When I would try to take him, he would give me lip like a sassy toddler! He’s definitely a spoiled chicken.

With Kahlua by our side, we thought we'd catch a giant fish. Instead, we caught a turtle and some great photos!
