*Update as of 1/4/24 - 213 dogs and cats (155 dogs, and 58 cats) sick eating Purina, 57 of which have died.

Since 12/5/23 in the 'Saving Pets One Pet @ A Time' group on Facebook there have been 48 dogs and 3 cats sick eating Purina, 10 of which have died. It seems to be from all different types of Purina, with Purina Pro Plan being the most common. If you or someone you know is feeding this food, I would stop immediately! Do NOT wait until your pet gets sick or Purina issues a recall.

Purina has already been notified by numerous pet owners and they have not done anything to alert unsuspecting pet parents. Initially, there were offering to reimburse the pet owners for their pet food. Currently, they are offering pet parents $10 in coupons (which is what Hills offered me for my dead dog) and having a third party contact the pet parents.

Eventually, we may see Purina pet food become “unavailable” on the store shelves. This is called a silent recall. The pet food manufacturer doesn’t want to admit there is a problem with the product, so they start pulling the products off the shelves quietly. (Hills did this for 60 days before the recall)."

I have a Metal Dog. What personality is your pet?

⚙️Metal personalities love to obey the rules and have everything in order. They are very aloof and disciplined and want everyone to follow the rules. They generally have a good hair coat that is meticulously groomed. Many gray cats are Metal personalities.

🫁The Metal element is ruled by the Lungs and Large Intestine. The lungs need moisture to survive. Problems with deficiencies of the Lung will produce:

• Asthma
• Dry skin

• Breathing disorders
• Nasal problems
• Coughing

Older animals that have moisture deficiencies (Yin deficiency) will be prone to constipation and megacolon. Diets high in moisture are important for these pets.

Truth!

When and I interviewed for The Alternative Dog Moms, Dr. Royal shared a story that brought this meme to mind.

I couldn't find it, so I recreated it.

I love talking to traditional vets who don't support raw. It's interesting to get their perspective while sharing my own.

I know it can be frustrating, and not all vets are open to this discussion. But when we can, we should try because we all love dogs.

I've changed the mind of every traditional vet I've worked with - they're not recommending fresh food, but they support my choice to feed raw, and that's a step.

We are looking for more participants for our canine fluconazole dosage study! The goal of this project is to determine the best dosing regimen for dogs of different sizes to have the best therapeutic benefit and minimize adverse effects. We especially need some smaller pups (less than 22 lbs) to be a part of this project. We also need 8-10 dogs who can participate in the all day arm of the study that determines how the drug levels rise and fall depending on dog’s weight after administering a dose of the medicine. If your dog has been diagnosed with Valley fever and has been taking fluconazole for at least 30 days, please consider enrolling them in this clinical study! Little Miss Mochi is another reactive pup we are currently working with. She's more excitable than fearful, but still barks and jumps like crazy when frustrated, seeing dogs, and sometimes people. She's also so ridiculously cute, I struggle to concentrate!
