Happy Facility Tour Friday! This week's stop is more than just your ordinary storage area. Our tack room serves as the operational hub for all things horse here at Happy Trails. This space allows our staff to keep the herd healthy and happy, and it also keeps our volunteers, riders, and staff organized before and after classes.
Here are a few things that you may not know about our tack room:
- It measures at a whopping 15' x 25' and holds all of our saddles, bridles, grooming supplies, blankets, and a few other miscellaneous items.
- The tack room is where we keep all first aid kits for horses and for humans.
- There are pictures of current program horses lining the wall with the bridles, but you will also see quite a few familiar faces from the past along the other wall space in the room.
Thanks for stopping by the tour today!

Happy February everyone!!! Spring Session is starting soon and we can’t wait to see everyone again!
We’ve had several people wonder what we do out here at HTRA when we are on “winter break” and aren’t hosting classes. So we thought we’d share!!! 1st- We slow down! WE are a BUSY place with classes, fundraising, community involvement, herd management, volunteer orientations and so many other things throughout the year. So when on winter break, we slow down and catch up on paperwork (there’s lots!!!!), prepare for various audits and accreditation visits, grant writing, and our infamous… winter break list which involves ALOT of cleaning, organizing, tack care, strategic planning and more! We stay busy but we take time to recuperate and gear up for a year of FUN! 2nd- We let our herd rest. If you have livestock or animals of any kind, there’s never a break! There’s always stalls to be cleaned, waters checked, horses fed, things to fix and so much more. Our horses work hard both physically and mentally. They can have 5-6 different riders a week with each presenting different disabilities. That means there can be up to 5-10+ different volunteers (side-walkers and leaders) working with these horses a week. We always prioritize our horses well being and health by ensuring they get lots of pasture time and exceptional care throughout the year. And during the winter we make it point to give our horses time off. We let our horses have their space. Lots of pasture time, light exercise and training, and of course we keep up with all their day to day care. It’s good to slow down so we gear up for another fabulous year! Happy Friday!!!!#horses #therapy #pathintl #2023
With 2022 wrapping up we just want to say thank you to everyone for making it a whirlwind of fun!!! Here’s to 2023!!!
If you missed it….Our office tree is decorated and ready for Santa!!! Wonder what’s on some of our horses wish lists this year… stay tuned to find out 🎄🎅
