I know everyone is broke or on a tight budget after Christmas. But we are desperate for HELP! I had 3 promises to pay for vetting for 3 of our dogs who needed surgery and vetting. Those 3 promises were not kept. So now we have an

Dear Animal Advocates & Friends,
Happy New Year’s EVE!
It’s been a big year of dog rescue, filled with life-saving projects, adventures, emergencies, and day-to-day care. With the end of the year in sight, December is a good time to pause and reflect on where we currently stand. Despite many challenges, Oklahoma Ruff Refuge continues to grow and making a difference for hundreds of dogs. One thing’s for sure: we couldn’t continue to do what we do without your support!
This past year was all about Unleashing Possibilities, and thanks to our amazing community of supporters and our Veterinarians at Woodland West Animal Hospital, Catoosa Small Animal Hospital, Crestwood Crossing Animal Hospital,
Tulsa Animal Urgent Care, Spay Ok, ORR “OKLAHOMA RUFF REFUGE” was able to do more than we could have ever imagined in 2024. Together, we, the volunteers, fosters, donors, partners, veterinary clinics and adopters saved over 168 dogs this year! We have had 106 adoptions! We paid for 77 spays and 96 neuters! We currently have 62 dogs in foster care across Oklahoma.
We also feed and give vet support to 17 families who are unable to feed and take care of their pets across Oklahoma.
We want to continue making an impact in Oklahoma. We are praying to start our new year with a zero balance at Woodland West Animal Hospital. We currently owe $8,765.96
If you are able to help us pay this bill we would be forever grateful and we will send you a tax deductible receipt.

As we look back at our 2024 year of rescuing dogs we reflect on a few of our heart tugging rescues.
We are absolutely overjoyed for every adoption, regardless of the amount of time a dog has been with us. But It’s especially meaningful when residents like Jagger, Shrek, Gordy to be adopted after being with us a year. they are now living their happily ever afters with wonderful families. Xander our precious puppy who was dumped at Haskel shelter because he wouldn’t listen. It took us 20 minutes after getting Xander to realize he was completely deaf. He was adopted by one of the best pittie loving families. Remember Phoebe. She was surrendered 2 years ago to Tulsa Animal Shelter and was adopted only to find herself adopted by a not so caring family. She was left outdoors in all seasons of weather and a year later Tulsa Animal ACO rescued her from below freezing weather. Her eyes and ears were so infected that she lost both her eyes. Tulsa Animal shelter called us and asked if we could rescue Phoebe and we did. We paid to have Phoebes eye surgery, we had her spayed and fully vetted and then she sat waiting in foster care for her new home for 7mths. FINALLY Phoebe’s adoption day arrived!
We have so many rescue stories to reflect on. Chance, Buddy, Joy, Duncan, Bubbie, Bella and Edward.
Our strategies moving into this new year are in building a future from our past. We are committed to expanding our partnerships, along with being a continued voice for homeless pets.

This Giving Tuesday, your generosity will go directly toward ending the abuse and suffering of Oklahoma’s forsaken k-9’s across our state. Whether it’s providing sick animals with urgent medical care, supplying shelters with the resources they need, supplying food to families who need help feeding their pets. Fostering pets impacted by domestic violence or addiction, your donation is truly life-changing. In 2023 we found forever homes for 116 dogs who were on Oklahomas euthanasia list in rural shelters across Oklahoma including our own Tulsa shelter and OKC shelter. We currently have 57 dogs waiting for their happily ever after. We are in dire need of Dog food and also to pay off our veterinary bill at Woodland West Animal Hospital we owe $8000.00.
With your support, we can ensure that more of Oklahoma’s forsaken K-9’s find safety, care, and loving homes in the year ahead.

Our sweet “Joy” was adopted today! We pray this sweet dog has found a forever home that she can decompress from the trauma of her owners dying. And she will be joyful again after all she has endured! Her new mom and dad are retired and plan on giving Joy all the love and attention she needs. The lady on the far right is Mechelle Joys foster. The couple on left is Joys knew mom and dad! of our fosters! We couldn’t save their life’s without you! We are so grateful you are part of our Ruff family! Thank you! We also want to say thank you to all our monthly supporters, our quarterly and yearly donors! We could not rescue, house, vet, feed all of our 57 rescues dogs without your support! Thank you! Every gift given is always needed and every penny goes to rescuing Oklahoma’s forsaken dogs.

In the quiet moments of today and the days to come we find comfort in the love Buddy left behind. We are forever changed.

To the ladies that loved me at the end of my life,
You helped me up so I would move from the middle of the street and you gave me a safe place to rest. I was scared the day you found me. I could hardly move without pain. My 15 year old spine & sternum was riddled with spondylosis.
I was looking for my owner when you found me laying in the middle of the street.
I saw the sadness in your eyes when you would say “I’m really trying to find your owner”. You knew I was missing them and waiting for them to come for me.
You placed me in your heart.
I felt your love in all the ways you helped me.
You took me to the vet and we found out why I was in pain. You gave me medication to make me comfortable.
You would lift my b***y up for me when I wanted to go outdoors or take a stroll to say hello.
You would lay next to me when I was too nauseated to take my medication.
You were so patient.
You told me I was handsome and such a good boy. I felt loved and safe. You figured out that I liked hotdogs! They were the best! Thank you!
You knew I was smiling at you and you would see my happiness with all my tail wags. I was very happy to be around so many people at the end of my life. I soaked up all the love pats from everyone that came through the front door.
Thank you for giving me the freedom to roam indoors and making me the softest most comfy bed.
I was so happy being able to hang out with you, visitors and our dog friends. You gave me so much joy in my last 21 days with you.
You never complained when I wanted to be outside in the middle of the night.
You didn’t know that I knew my last and final days were here and I wanted to watch the sun come up one last time. Thank you for sitting with me all night.
I hope you think of me and feel my grateful love when you see the sunset again.
I thank you for giving me comfort and so much happiness in my last days.
If you ever find my owner Please tell them I waited everyday for them to find me. I even held on a couple extra days thinking they would walk in the door and be happy to see me.
I couldn’t hold on any longer. Tell them I love them and I wish they would have found me.
I know today your heart broke when you found that I had gone to heaven while I laid asleep at your feet.
I see the tears that fall
because I'm no longer there.
You loved me more in my 21 days with you than I had been loved my entire life.
In the end I felt loved and I saw how you always did your best for me, Your love was plain to see. For even though I broke your heart, You set my spirit free. One day we'll meet once more. For when you're called to heaven,
I'll be waiting at the door.

PLEASE SHARE! Big Boy was adopted and then returned. Not anything wrong with Big Boy but his adopters dog did not like BigBoy. He didn’t want to share his home with BigBoy. It was sad when Big Boy was returned. We could tell Big Boy was sad. He slept in a big bed with his new family and he had free roam of his new home. He’s such a good boy!
