Longtime volunteer and session horse leader, Gary, has been an essential part of the Horses of Hope family for over five years. He dedicates several days a week to helping our participants by leading horses during their sessions.

Though Gary may shy away from the spotlight, he absolutely deserves it. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the countless hours you’ve given to our programs through the years.

Happy Valentine's day from our Mane Valentine Charlie! Charlie has been capturing hearts since he became a beloved member of the Horses of Hope family almost a year ago. At over 20 years old, he's the most gentle, loving and always the first one to greet visitors, making him a perfect introduction to our program.

Charlie is all about taking things slow. His calm, easy going nature helps our participants build confidence before they step into the saddle. We are so grateful to have Charlie as part of our team. His steady presence makes a big difference in the lives of those we serve.

Evelyn's journey since 2016 exemplifies the profound impact of therapeutic riding on personal development. Starting with the use of a trainer walker, she has made remarkable strides in strength and confidence, ultimately walking independently and mounting her horse with ease. This transformation is powered by unwavering family support and highlights the therapeutic benefits of equine-assisted activities. We are so grateful to be a part of her growth journey and to witness our mission brought to life of promoting Health, Happiness and Healing through Horses.

As we commemorate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it is essential to reflect on his enduring message of equality and justice. His vision inspires organizations to promote inclusivity and support for all individuals, especially those facing challenges. At Horses of Hope Oregon, we strive to embody these principles by creating a community that embraces diversity and fosters empowerment. Let us work together towards a future that reflects Dr. King's ideals.

Horses of Hope Oregon presents....Volunteer Spotlight!

Evelyn has been a volunteer with HOH for nearly two years now. She sidewalks in sessions and assists with barn care several times a week. Evelyn’s favorite horse is Benny! She loves Benny because of his sweet, gentle spirit, and because she has loved watching him overcome his fears as he has settled into the herd. She also loves Benny because he doesn’t try to play keep away with her when she goes to bring him in from pasture for lessons!

When asked why Horses of Hope, Evelyn said
“Horses of Hope has brought me so much joy and purpose. I have met wonderful people and made many new friends. Helping our participants is deeply rewarding, and I love that there is always something to do at HOH!”

Evelyn, when you joined our family you had little horse experience, but a heart full of love and the desire to learn. Watching you grow at HOH has been such a pleasure. Your positive impact ripples throughout our community and is felt by the horses, participants, and staff! We love having you here and are ever grateful for all the love you pour into our mission every single week. Thank you, Evelyn!
